Lupus and menstrual cycle

Has anyone else experienced changes in their menstrual cycle. I have had prolonged bleeding for nearly 3 weeks and I am wondering whether this is due to the lupus ?

I can honestly say the only time ive had changes in my menstrual cycle is when I switched birth control types. I would talk to your gyno.

I just recently been diagnost but I think mine got just an opposite then yours …

ABSOLUTELY has something to do with our menstrual cycle- simply not enough info on it yet- but, besides having a mini flare 1 week b4 I expected my period (to the point that my Rheum used to increase my prednisone 1 week before period to decrease inflammation and alleviate symptoms of a possible more serious flare!)
Think about it- what we know****
1- Lupus is a disease that affects mainly 90% women-
2. Typical first symptoms and onset are usually around the time of first Menses (1st period) in teen years and/or after childbirth.
3. Lupus attacks all connective tissue- OUR WHOLE BODY is connective tissue! Our reproductive system included…

-Sadly, this current flare has made me have to stop working almost 2 yrs now! Hate that! But also has made me looses a TREMENDOUS amount of weight, have vein thrombosis, lymph nodes so swollen, seizures ect… It has also made me stop ovulating, therefor at an extremely low BMI I’m still getting my period once a week for 2 days- also effected my hormone absorbs ion, allergic to progesterone- so strange- also more suspect able to certain cancers.

Heating pad is my best friend!!!
Flares are rough, and effects us alllll differently- such a mysterious disease! Hang in there momma- your not going nuts!

 hopeful…

Yes I Have some missed cycles and some prolonged ones too.

Mine has crept up a week early (so like 3 weeks instead of four) and been spotty, longer, etc a few months since my dx. I’m chalking it up to lupus since I was like clockwork before.

A week before my period my body would ache all over. I would have a flare every month. A couple of days beforeI would start my heart palpations would increase.

The tricky part of Lupus is how it effects each of us so different. I myself did not notice a change (since dx’d) but then I had already had a hysterectomy. It takes so . Long for diagnosis. …I believe my lupus started in high school but wasn’t diagnosed officially until I was 35. I was regular as far as my cycle goes but had horrendous cramps, cysts and endometriosis. Who knows if I the two were related. Just to be safe see your gynecologist. Good luck…hugs

oh yes. my menses are hardly on time. very often i miss a month or two .

That happened to me after starting Prednisone. Caloed the doc and ahe said to stop taking it, that it was a side effect from it.
