Hello all,
I have been on Prednisolone for 11 months now, ranging from 25 mg down to 7.5 mg. I am currently on 10mg. My specialist has now added Azathioprine.
My question is about immunity, how important is it to stay away from ill people. I don’t currently work but do take language classes 3 days a week where we are sandwiched together like sardines and right now everyone seems ill with one thing or another but still coming to class to spread their germs.
Am I being paranoid or should I give the classes a miss for a while?
Thanks in advance x
Forgot to add that I’m also on 400mg Plaquinel daily.
I took it for a year and now I’m on Cellcept. I was worried too about getting sick (I work in a preschool with toddlers. A def germ factory, lol!). I am vigilant about washing my hands, using hand sanitizer & keeping my hands away from my face. I haven’t become sick any more than usual & actually it’s less than most people with healthy immune systems. My WBC are also low normal or below normal when I have blood work done. Also, make sure you stay current on immunizations and reduce your stress as much as possible. If you feel comfortable, maybe you can advise those who sit closest to you that you are immune compromised so that they can be careful with sneezing/coughing around you? Good luck to you!
Renee
Thanks Renee
I am immune compromised and it is worrisome. You are not being paranoid. You could ask your doctor about which supplements he could recommend to build up your immune system. Also, wearing a mask during class may be an option especially if people around you are visibly sick. There are lots of things that you can do to cut down your risk of infection. Some links...
