I I have been looking for a support group in my area and trying to make contacts with others I feel the more support systems you have it can be effective and knowledgeable as well as I can volunteer if I am able too,mix and mingle with others that share the same illness. What do you think?
I have not found a local support group in my area. I have found several people with Lupus just by talking to people I know. Support is probably closer than you think.
I agree but recently being diagnosed with lupus april of this year and this whole illness is new to me and I dont think you ever get use to it ,dont have many family members and I havenot come to terms to tell others around me other than close friends I have lupus. So on here and other support groups and others who have lupus would be considered friends because we all share something in common ,

Hi Lia,
I think it's a brilliant idea plus your mixing with people going through the same issues as well as yourself and if you can find one all the best...then you'll start to have friends you can turn to besides your family on here.
Go for it mate...all the more the better i say. Hugs Terri xxx
Finding others who understand what you're going through is probably the best thing you can do to keep from driving yourself crazy. Lupus is a very personal disease and effects people differently. There are going yo be more questions than answers and living with the disease will tend to put you in "dark place" on occasion. Having someone to talk to can help you bounce back. Its nice to be able to confer with people who can relate. Sometimes, its difficult to share with others whats going on with you but you'll find that your friends and family will be more supportive than you might expect. Take care.
thanks for reply, dont have alot of fa,ily ,just my mom I am not married and donot have alot of friends, only one knows I have lupus, sometimes talking to strangers is easier especially if they can relate, someone on the outside looking in and not knowing you personal can be a plus.

Hello Lia,
Have you been looking into groups you can join yet?
All my love Terri xxx
I have joined the local group here in Raleigh. I really thought it would help me alot, but honestly... its just better for information then trying to get support from them. They dont want to talk about how it is affecting you or what new symptoms you have. They just want to play games and talk about informative stuff. Wich isnt bad at all its just not the support I thought it would be. Vollenteering is awesome. Go to the Lupus foundation of america chapter in your area and ask what kind of help they need. I helped them for the Lupus Walk Now in april. I registert ppl and took donations for them. I felt so good about it. I could not walk myself so I did what I could. Sit in a chair and talk to ppl and write lol.

I went to meeting it was very informative , that many people didnt show up but I did a chance to learn about lupus and listen to others talk about it , it felt refreshing to tell my story , alot of people at a meeting sometimes you dont get a chance to ask the questions you want to .It was different.I found out it is three different kind of lupus and I have symptoms of two of them, not depressed right now,how are you

Hi Lia,
The news you've brought to your thread is "Excellent"....it's lovely you was able to mix and hear what other had and this as given you an open doorway to mixing more with other suffers besides sharing what your going through....i'm ever so pleased for you Lia.
Give it time and everytime you meet you'll find the questions you want to ask will fly out your mouth from no where...because you'll get relaxed with them like having an ordinary conversation...i really hope you keep this up.
A large hug to you Lia.
thankyou , i am so mentally tired , meeting was ok,I dont know how you do this everyday.I am so tired.
Hello Lia,
