I have been meaning to ask this question for a while now.
Does anyone when you are in a flare,have indentations on the side of there face{just at the side of the temples}?
It can be quite tender,and all the Jaw and Cheekbone really hurt.
I also have the Indentations at the side of my Kness on the far side,but in the inside Mottling on the skin.and swollen.
Does anyone have any ideas at to what it is.

I've looked for the symptoms your having and indentations is a new one on me reagrding Lupus and the main cause is "Lipoatrophy" which comes from Lupus, RA and thyroid trouble besides steriods doing it and many more conditions....it's a widespread of tissue loss and can happen anywhere on the body.
I hope this link explains it for you, then i'd mention it to your specialist.

Thanks Terri,ive had a look and yes thats what i have ,its on my face and the outside of my kness,it really bad there,its a strange sensation,its numb and tingly when i touch but tender too.

Hi Kathy,
When you see your specialist again take the name with you and ask them to run some bloods on the condition to see if it confirms it...it sounds terrible especially being tender.
I've just never know so many issues arise concerning Lupus...it's a living nightmate mate.

Hi Kathy,
If it was me it would be mentioned to both because your getting to opinions which won't hurt and even a spine specialist should know because years back in the orthepedic department when they told me i had cervical spondylosis...the doctor told me did you know you had muscle wastage (Muscle Atrophy) and now it's been confirmed it's off the sjogren's and had it for years but the weakness gets worse week by week, as i can feel it.
