I just threw out our shampoo

I looked up our Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine shampoo on the internet, and found numerous complaints about its toxicity and ability to cause symptoms such as itching and sores on scalp and ears. (My scalp and ears have been itching off and on, but I was blaming the funky water here in Tampa.) Now I am wondering if the lesions on my son's ears could possibly be allergic contact dermatitis that presents like SCLE?? I intend to take this up with the dermatologist on Monday.

I have been told my son's bloodwork was "fine" -- I don't know the specifics yet. Could "a perivascular and periadnexal infiltrate composed of lymphocytes," "small foci of lymphocytic exocytosis," and "occasional dyskeratotic keratinocytes in the epidermis" be due to an allergic response to shampoo? Or am I just trying too hard to wriggle out of this diagnosis?

Also, I would like recommendations on soaps, detergents, hair products, and any other products you use that you consider to be hypoallergenic, non-toxic, and non-inflammatory.

I use a special hypo-allergenic shampoo for wet or dry hair/body. It's found in the adult hygeine section. The other thing that I use is baby shampoo. Neither of these have caused allergies when others have.

Whoa. That's crazy! I'm definitely going to check my shampoo. Lots of baby soaps are hypoallergenic and non-toxic. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
