Hi everyone, just talked to JC, he had been moved to another shelter and is fine. No one has been allowed to go back to their little island. Not sure what is still there, or if anything is livable. On top of Sandy they were just hit with snow, by another Noreaster! So the people who had power, or just had power restored are out again. He also mentioned that they have started gas rationing.
He said there is a lot of walking, and that is tiring, there are children, so he adjusting to that, but enjoying them too, and that he has taken Ben's Friends LIVE!!
Here is his tempory number if you would like to speak to him briefly. Keep in mind he goes to bed early and gets up early.
848-■■■■■■■■ Not sure how long he will have this number. He told me I could post it!
I just noticed that a call showed up from JC, so I called, he was in line to talk to FEMA, hoping to get a hotel room or something. I said that he should be given top priority with disabilities, but he said there were many in that category.
He said that he could not get into his apt yet, but I am not sure if he still has an apt, I told him there were gas line fractures everywhere, and structural inspections that would have to be made, mold considerations...
He was 'up' in line to speak to them, so if he does not call me later, I will try to call him.
That's all I can tell you for now, I had told him to call me anytime! Glad he did!
Thanks for letting we know mate...they way he spoke to me and you could hear in his voice even though he said they was all in the same situation...that living with the noise off the family's could have been to much.
I really do hope they're able to get him somewhere, where he's on his own while issues are being sorted out.
I know, the news said that the Army is trying to clear the streets today, so hopefully they have turned off all the gas lines and it's safe for them to be in there. I would think so!
I was just thinking that he will need to stay near to where he is to be able to apply for aid, housing, and who knows what other red tape will be involved for him.
Just imagine what he must have gone through to get meds!
Even if it's safe for the army to clear the NJ there's no properties left is there?

Susan i understand what you mean and getting meds alone here is terrible, i've gone into hospital in the past as they like you to take your meds and when you ask for them back, for some reason they've got lost, then it's re-applying to your doctor and explaining.
It's got to be alot as i know my own mentality would'nt cope.:)

Yes, there are properties left, but they have been moved by the ocean, or structurally fractured, flooded, some people were rescued from their attics, there are boats and cars everywhere that the water has moved, power lines... more than we can even imagine to deal with! Roads and bridges are gone, sand is in everything...
You could hear the strain in his voice, people on the news were getting hostile too, wanting power. Renie still does not have power! They are working on poles near her though.
Thanks so much Susan for the update on JC. I have wondered how he is managing to function in such an awful situtation. It would be very hard for well people much less suffering from illness and have special needs. Bless His heart....continue praying for him.
With what's happened there, it will take such a while to try and sort it and it's funny you hearing the strain on his voice that's how he was talking with me and i did say to him several times are you ok there with your health.
I actually think it's such alot for him and for JC and the other family's in must be like living in hell and how you have the redcross their we have shettled accommadtion here, they charge so much nightly with meals, they're mainly for the homeless but if you have reagular money to pay each week they sort a permanent room out for you. :)

JC called me this morning to tell me that he has been moved to a hotel room on the Jersey coast. He feels safe and secure there, and is relieved to be to his self, understandably so!
He still has his temporary cell phone.
Has decided to stay living on the coast, as this is his home, so he will wait for the clean up.
I could not understand everything as there was an echo, but the relief was so obvious!
When I hear from him, I will let you know right away. He did say that he knows that if he needs anything that he can count on us!
I just called him and he told me that his landlord has already gutted his apt, it's down to the studs, there was 4 feet of water in it. JC has been there for 12 years, and they live next door to each other, so there is a very strong bond there.
Susan it's such a shame after 12yrs of being settled and now having to start again.
I just hope the funds really help JC to start off again although it's something in his life he can do without the same as a good many in the same situation.
I'm just pleased he's settled somewhere...where he can be more content now. :)
