I don't want to be this sick!

I went grocery shopping, came home, unloaded the groceries and put them away. I'm covered with sweat and feel faint. I shouldn't be so exhausted after a simple grocery trip! Especially since I've done nothing else today. I'm so frustrated right now.

Hi Idioskosmos,

Were you alone when you did grocery shopping? It helps to go to grocery with friends or colleagues, it lessens the burden you feel. :-)

I know how you feel. It sucks. Hang in there.

I know how you feel, it really does suck, at some point you get used to it, make adjustments and keep moving forward,.

i no how u feel,i hate it,i wish i had the answers but i dont all i can say is your not alone.good luck hope it gets better

I’m the same way. I sweep my floor and do the dishes and have to lay down from exhaustion. So frustrating. My husband works so hard and I feel so guilty when I’ve been doing nothing all day and still don’t have the energy to cook dinner sho he does that too. Most of the time he first mind but I do. Grocery shopping will wipe me out for a couple of days sometimes. Just know you’re not alone and it’s not your fault. Hang in there!

The exhaustion seems to be part of this disease and we have to rest when our bodies demand it of us. That you went shopping shows that you are not letting our disease rule you. Your in good company here in this forum. Get some rest and you'll feel more energy soon, stay strong and positive.

Gosh it just sucks knowing that you want to do more but are physically limited by your body. its like your mind and body are working at different paces. do things that make you happy, watch a funny show, spend time with friends/family, this will take your mind off of the struggles at least for a little bit and hopefully leave you in a more positive mood :-)

Another hand up here \0 I feel the same way. Do you ever use those motorized shopping carts? They do help, but sometimes I still get tired, just not as badly. I have a power wheelchair and never go shopping alone.

I am older but if I shop for all of my groceries and bring them out of the car I cannot get them put away. Right now I use a delivery services. Walmart does not have grocery delivery in my area but they offer free delivery on most household items with $50 order -paper towels, cleaning suppliers, shelf stable pantry goods. I use amazon prime for speciality items. And Relay Foods brings my fresh produce. When I go to the market myself it is only to pick up a small number of things. I have had 46 years to adapt.

We are the same way Ann. We use Amazon Prime a lot and we use Door to Door Organics for other groceries. When there is a need to go out, we shop smaller stores like Trader Joe’s. I can’t even walk through that smaller store. My wife and daughter usually do all the grocery shopping at the stores, I get to on line shop : -)

I’m 41 and was diagnosed July 2008. I’m still having a hard time dealing with the fact I can’t do what I used to. If I go grocery shopping I’m down the next day. It’s ridiculous. Once upon a time I ran my own gym, went to school, went out on weekends all while being a single mama with 4 little girls. It is sometimes very hard to accept this new life.

I have a lot of compassion for people like us! I don’t know what to do but pray and acceptance!
Maria

I too share in your words and prayers, Maria. Acceptance of others is much easier. Acceptance within myself has proven to be the challenge…frustrating does not begin to describe it. Prayer, day to day.

I still go to the grocery store. My daughter or my sons girlfriend usually go with me. The bad thing is I usually only get for 2 days at a time. I have often thought of using the online stores.

Interesting name Idioskosmos...what does it mean?

I think what you feel is great. That is the first step to getting well. As a retired Chiropractor...I know that if you don't use it you lose it. So in spite of not feeling well...it is important to move. Even if it as simple as getting a rocking chair and waving a beautiful scarf over your head to music you love.

Learn about flax seed and what it can do to help you heal. Meds treat symptoms. To heal the body...it needs less toxins (like meds) to get a fair chance. Also, probiotics to help keep the GI track healthy.

Healing is a lifestyle change...you have to really want it! Dee

Has anyone else here been diagnosed with interstitial lung disease due to lupus? For me, it has been far worse than the lupus itself. It has left me with less than 30 percent of my lung capacity and greatly limits what I am able to do. My rheumatologist hopes benlysta, which I have just begun, might help my lungs as well as the lupus. Have any of you found a good treatment for interstitial lung?

Idioskosmos is from the Greek, and means "private reality" - the other side of that is Koinoskosmos, which means "shared reality".

The ironic thing is that I didn't start having health problems until I quit smoking. (The cigarettes were probably masking my symptoms.) I've been trying to live a healthy life ever since, but it's hard sometimes. I can't even walk around the block without becoming exhausted. I haven't started any medication for the Lupus yet, and I'm hoping that once I do, I'll feel better.

I was alone because my family was out of town. I wanted to get the shopping done before they got back. My teenage son usually helps me unload the car, and that really helps.

Very interesting name. I was working on a Masters in Transpersonal Psychology at JFK University ...when I switched to Chiropractic. There are definitely different states of reality. Right now my husband is trying to talk to me while I think!Which is always a challenge. I truly believe and have seen it happen many times...that once are reality shifts to clear intention to get well...the Universe and the body and God knows what else ...work together to heal. When we are in chaos and under stress we become ill. I am always under huge stress and can almost always remember a moment when I say...something negative about my health...and then I get a flare or some other malady. And...I know better. Part of the human condition...is to need support and reminding by others...perhaps part of the shared reality.

How long have you been smoke free? Congrats that is suppose to be a real challenge. I do know that it takes 2-3 years for the lungs to repair after a person stops smoking. How long has it been? Not sure how to send private message or how the friend thing works...fairly new to site. Be well. Dee

I get like that as well. Just yesterday. I'm still paying the price. Hang in there. We are in this together.
