Help to relieve stress?

Has anyone found a good outlet to assist in controlling, reducing, eliminating stress?

My Sjogrens, Raynauds Phenomenon, and SLE are aggravated by stress and I need help.

I'm the type of person who takes on "the world around me's" issues and stresses. I worry for my family & friends. I wanna help everyone. I wanna make sure all is taken care of perfectly, I will hold in my frustrations and thoughts (I don't filter what comes out of my mouth - I'm an emotional blurter - so best to keep it in). I like doing it "my way" and don't ask for much assistance. Although so many of my friends have asked to help. I'm embarrassed to say since my hands are painful and blistered w/Raynauds or Lupus - whichever - I'd have to clean before I would have anyone over to help clean - if that makes sense. HELP!

I completely get that. My mom has suggested I get a house cleaner but I think that would just cause me more stress.
I think you need to find an activity that while doing it you can’t think about anything else and try to do it at least once a week. I know it seems upsurd to add something to your schedule to decrease stress in a busy world. But this is you time, it might be crafting or trying a new sport or activity that requires you to focus o the other worries can’t creep in. Also, I take a bath daily and lock the door to read my book. I am also exploring q website called Moodgym. Not sure yet if it helps. Despite my good ideas, I am currently stressed.

Hang in there.

Thank you for the suggestions, Northrock! A relaxing bath might also help me sleep through the night. I'll investigate moodgym. I know attitude and control of worries will be key for me to assist the meds in controlling SLE. Keeping the mind busy (on an enjoyable outlet) isn't absurd - it's a helpful suggestion. Now what would interest me . . . time to put on the thinking cap.

I'm sorry you are stressed at this time. If I can be of assistance or you need to vent - I'm here for you.

Hi momma bear i am sorry you are suffering and are so stressed.Have you tried www.calm.com ? its a website that plays relaxing sounds and has guided meditations on it as well.Epsom salt baths might be helpful also.Maybe some chammomile tea would help relax you i know it relaxes me :)I hope you destress oon tc xx

I will check that website too, thanks.

I can relate. stress really slows down any progress you try to make. but i believe only you can figure out what helps you best. anything that soothes you and keep things off your mind should do the trick. when i am stressed, i noticed doing creative things helped me. cooking something (since i am a foodie) helps when i am in a condition to stand. if the pain is more, i start writing and it helps. if i am bed ridden and not in a condition to even hold pen or type on my laptop, i just sit back and think of details about my next write-up. keeping my mind busy in something i enjoy helps as stressbuster. I suggest you try to find out what you like doing and give it a try.

You are so right, Pollen Grains - I'll need to find what calms me. I've not taken the time to do that really. Used to be sitting in the sun by the pool listening to music. Guess I need to find some shade, although we have none in our backyard - LOL.

How long ago were you diagnosed? Sounds like you go through some rough times. All the best to you, thanks for your input.

Queenpinks webite www.calm.com sounds like a definite must try as well.

oh yes indeed. only you can figure out this. SLE is an institution in itself. every day you learn new limits of your body, every day you think of an alternate way to get tasks done, you tend to work on the things you took granted for before. You learn to appreciate small things, even a day out with minimum pain is a treat.

i was diagnosed 3 years ago. and before that misdiagnosed for 6 months. those 6 months were absolute hell. thankfully now i can move around.

I understand it must be scary and frustrating for you. but never lose hope. keep fighting. we may not win this, but we wont go down without giving a fair fight. :D

stay strong..
