I have tried Nioxin and I like it but it didn't do much for hair growth. I was told to try Rogaine but thing with that is that I can't stop using Rogaine because if I do my hair will just fall out more....I am sorry you're experiencing this as well, it really does suck especially when you're so used to long thick hair...I def do need to protect my hair in the sun though, I didn't know there was shampoo with SPF so I will check that out. WIsh you luck !
I haven't heard of Theradome but I will look into that and do research. Thanks for that. Also, I am so sorry that you are experiencing it and I feel you about the dating, it's been really difficult for me to get back in the "game" because i'm insecure. Well I am hoping that over time it'll become easier and I have read that wigs have helped a lot of people...Maybe extensions too?

Hi Samantha, I have been experiencing hair loss for about 5yrs now. I have several autoimmune diseases and take plaquenil, Coumadin and 9 other prescriptions along with about 9 vitamins and supplements. The doctors blamed it on stress because my husband died right before I started losing my hair. I have tried EVERYTHING without success. I am blessed to have a hair dresser that specializes in thinning hair and hair loss. I recently purchased a Theradome to the tune of 900.00. This will be my last attempt to at least save what I still have. It has been FDA cleared and used in Europe for many years with various degrees of success. I have been using it for 3 months and the loss has slowed. My stylist takes pictures every time I go in, she has many clients using the Theradome. I am hopeful at best. Check it out online and see if it might be for you. I had 2 scalp biopsies and one came back as autoimmune related and one was just female pattern hair loss. I feel that I may never date again because of this terrible situation.
I have the same problem. My hair were long and full of life, but now I had to trim it to level blades.
first,I only use delicate shampoos. No sls, no phtalats,no parabens. I buy it through Iherb. In Russia we have no shampoos like it.
second, I never use tap water for washing the head. I live out of town and we punched a hole 28 meters in order to supply the house with pure natural water.
The tab water are deeply chlorinated for safety, after it my skin were dry as a desert. Really, masks, creams, oils did not help me.
The only thing which helps me after pulse therapy with a huge amount of prednisolone,is a subcutaneous injection of vitamins ander the skin of my head.
Methotherapy for hair is the only thing that stopped the loss after pulse therapy with prednisolone
I do now two session every month. In order to stop hair loss and stimulate the growth..... it took almost two months of weekly visits to the beautician. when I came the first time with a complaint of hair loss, the doctor didn't believe me. He advised to drink vitamins because he didn't know my diagnosis, but doing a comb through my hair several times he'd to believe me.
I was starting to have some hair loss recently, and I called to ask my rheumatologist to see if there was anything I could do, and I was about to start taking plaquenil, and she said it would also help prevent the hair loss, and I am still losing hair, but not nearly as much. I have pretty thick hair so I'm not too concerned about my hair loss anymore, but I do hope you get the help you need!
Goodness, I lost half of my fullness in the last three years. I didn't know what to do. I started looking at youtube videos for suggestions. I kept coming across video's of Asian women using natural herb oil infusions for hair shedding. I have been making infusions using amla, brahami, fenugreek powders in coconut oil. I do a hot oil scalp massage once a week with the oil. I have also made a water infusion of shikakai powder for cleansing my hair. In six months my I have notice a significant decrease in hair shedding. I have also had crazy hair growth in this six month period. This has what's worked for me. Before starting, I did my research and spoke with a few ladies from India that have shed some light on their hair care regimens. I hope you find your solution. Thanks for posting.
Minxie, could you be a little more specific on the treatment you have had success with. I use the Thera dome and it has slowed the loss down considerably but I am impatient. The Thera dome has various degrees of success and it takes about a year of faithful use to see some regrowth.
I appreciate any info you would like to share.

OH I HAVE SUCH GOOD NEWS! Due to the traumatic stresses in the past 6 months and the resulting lupus flare, my hair got so thin I was considering a "topper" wig that just goes on the top, and blends in with your hair on the sides. Well I decided to try some products first. I really wish I would have taken before and after pictures. I found FIBROLOGY products. In Canada they are called FIBRALOGY. There is a shampoo, conditioner, tube of hair thickener and a jar of hair mask. I just started with the shampoo and the tube of hair thickener. It says that after 1 shampoo, it will feel thicker. After 5 shampoos, it will BE thicker. It has ingredients that actually build up the hair with naturally occurring substances that are in your hair. Well today was shampoo #2, and then I used a mousse that claims to add body (not sure if it makes a difference which you use) and a hair technique I found on youtube. I shampooed, then used the hair thickener. I don't use conditioner becaue it makes my hair fly away like staticky newborn hair and I haven't tried the hair mask because I suspect it will do the same thing, but wow I can not believe how much thicker my hair looks! After towel drying, you sit down and lean forward and pull your hair forward, as if your head was almost upside down. Get some mousse in your hand and with the other hand, work the mousse through the roots, all over, running your fingers through your hair so that as your hair dries, the roots are being raised away from your head. By the time your hair is dry, you will see more volume.
I also started using Mane 'n Tail conditioner the night before I shampoo. You just need a nickle sized dab and you rub it into your roots and scalp, not all through your hair. Sleep with it on, and shampoo in the morning. I used that when I went bald for 4 years, I never thought it would come back, and it did! I only had to do it once or twice a week. People with cancer use Mane 'n Tail, that's how I learned about it. I got it at Walmart. The shampoo is pretty useless. The conditioner was created to make hair grow in quickly for show horses who had patchy spots. I've only used it once this time around, but having great hopes for results like I had years ago.
I'm so sorry I am late with this response. I did not see it until today. Again, I am not a doctor nor do I suggest you try what I have found successful. Right now my regimine is three fold.
1st, I infuse Henna powder, Amla powder, Brahmi powder, Neem powder in coconut oil. I let the infusion warm on the stove for about 15 minutes then I pour it in a container to sit for a few days. I'm trying to get max results. I then take the infused oil and strain out all of the powders using muslin or a stocking. I know have my infused coconut oil. I take the coconut oil and give myself scalp massages every morning after showering for about 5 minutes. This stimulates the hair follicals at the root. At the end of the week (Sat or Sun) I give myself a good hot oil treatment using the same oil. I let it sit for a few hours and then I cleanse my hair using an all natural sulfate free shampoo diluted with a bit of water. I then deep condition with an natural paraben free conditioner. The natural shampoos and conditioners are now becoming popular for natural hair care.
2nd, I do a Henna treatment once a month for strengthening my hair shaft. Henna is a great conditioner for hair. It adds shine and volume to it, and also shields it from further damage by forming a coating. It helps maintain the natural acid-alkaline balance on your scalp and cleanses it of dirt without altering the natural balance unlike chemical-based products.
It promotes hair growth, reduces hair fall, dandruff and other scalp problems. I take my about a cup of henna (or what ever amount that will cover the length of your hair) and add a little bit of water to it to form a thick cake batter consistency. I pour a tablespoon of lemon juice into the mixture and stir until it is incorporated. The lemon juice activates the henna. I cover the container with plastic wrap and let the mixture sit for a few hours. After some time has past (about 3 hrs or so) the henna should have turned dark on the top. I mix it up and add a 1/2 cup of my conditioner to make it into a gloss. This will help in the application process. I section my hair into four sections and apply the mixture to my hair. Once all has been applied I wrap my hair in a plastic cap and let this sit on my head for an hour. Then I sit under my hair dryer for about 15 minutes. (I also found wrapping my head in a towel for the hour works the same) The added heat helps the henna penetrate your hair shaft. I then wash the mixture out and deep condition for another hour. I rinse the deep conditioner out and put my leave in conditioner in. (Make sure your conditioners do not have protein in them. It can make your hair feel crunchy)
3rd, I do not use direct heat on my hair. If I blow dry I use my hand held dryer on the cool setting. Mostly I wear wash and go's, and twist outs. I am African American and I am natural. The above works wonders for me.
With these regimines, I have seen great results. I can't even explain it. I would always wonder how Indian women were able to grow their hair so very long. I watched quite a few youtube videos. I will link some below. Good Luck!
