Hello every one and happy 4 th of July
I been recently diagnost with lupus and I just started to be on plaquenil .
My question is … I have been loosing hear in the past 3 month .
Would it stop in some point and will grew back ??? I been taking vitamins for the hear but I don’t see it helps .
Does any one expirions some thing like this ?
it will depend if the hair loss is caused by medication or lupus, mine was caused by discoid lupus on my scalp and my hair did not come back. The plaquenil will help and I don't know if the hair will grow back for you everyone's lupus is different. good luck
Thank you Hopeful , so much for your reply .
Im just trying to get as much information i can
Do Rogaine for women . Thats what I do
I share Querida’s experience. The Rogaine for women helps regrowth and slows the fallout. Biotin (a vitamin) helps too.
It takes months for the Plaquenil to start working so I’d start using Rogaine and biotin right away.
Good luck!
Nikki
Thank you Nikki and QUERIDA.
I will start on biotin but I’m afraid a little from using ROGAIN because I heart if you stop you loose more .
I haven’t had luck with any of the above mentioned treatments. I have wigs if I go out and headwraps I got from American Cancer society. I hope your hair loss is not permanent. Due to variety of lupus based problems and meds docs have told me I probably won’t regain hair loss andIit will continue to fall out…what little is left. Some days I am devastated at the changes in my body and my life. But there are more days when I can laugh at myself…I did take a great deal of pride in my looks…too much, I now know. My beloved husband still thinks he is the luckiest man in the world having me as his wife,:-)- I thank my Lord everyday for the blinders of love my husband wears. So, the true intent of this rather lengthy post is that I am learning that I am more than what my experienceterior shoed. Despite this.devastating disease, I can still laugh, I am still loved, and I am so grateful to God for the blessing I have and the strength to plow thru everything lupus throws at me. I am still here. I can still laugh, even being overweight, nearly bald and the occasional lupus rash appearing on my face. May God grant you gentle days filled with love and grins.
Good morning! I am fairly new to lupus as well, I was diagnosed a year ago. My hairloss occurs in two ways: all over thinning and during flares in perfect circles usually the size of quarters. Thankfully my hair grows pretty quick:) I haven’t issued any of the above items listed but I will definetly give them a try. Just stay positive I always say if I have to wear wigs in the future at least I can have fun with it, there are so many styles and colors out there:)
Hi! I've had three serious issues of hairloss. The first time it was localized to one area at the back of my head and the other two times it was thinning all over. Each time it grew back (luckily) and dont be surprised if it grows back slightly different (mine came in slightly wavier). I don't know if mine was due to a lupus flare or my hypothyroidism (this can cause hairloss too and can be common with lupus) or any of the new medications I was on. During that time I tried using a shampoo called Nioxin, I found that it helped to thicken the hair a bit and it has nutrients for your hair. Try not to put any tension on your hair, like putting on tight hair elastics, also the shorter your hair is, the thicker it looks and pulls on it less. Try to eat healthy with vitamins of Biotin. Good luck! I hope your hair grows back.
Thank you for your helpful reply !!!
