So today I had an upper GI for stomach pain, bloating, gas etc… The result was erosive gastritis and a biopsy of the duodenum for melanosis. I have to start taking Protonix now but I was just wondering if anyone else here with lupus has any if these issues. Im newly diagnosed in April and have had a lot of different things going on sense then. Lots of scalp sores and sores on my forehead. But this stomach issue is really bothering me.
I do, I do! I know it's not funny but hearing (reading) that other people deal with some of the same issues is a kind of comfort. I have been misdiagnosed for so many years it makes me crazy to think about. I've been diagnosed with IBS and acid reflux, then Gerd, then two ulcers, which I named after my ex-husbands. I took nexium for years and it did help half the time as long as I stayed off ibuprofen. One doctor prescribed protonix after I had spent time in the hospital with pneumonia. During the two weeks that I was on Protonix I had virtually no real digestive tract pain. Of course I can't afford the cost and the clinic I went to until recently won't cover the cost, so it's back to nexium for now. I hope it helps you like it helped me. Having that constant discomfort is exhausting all by itself, not to mention all the other issues we all deal with. As for the scalp sores and skin issues, I have found a lot of useful information from the other members here. Protect your skin from harsh chemicals and the sun is a good starting point.
I wish you the best of luck.
