FULL MOON=worse symptoms?

Just curious.....does anyone else have worse symptoms during the full moon ?

I have noticed for a while that all my lupus symptoms are much worse a few days before the full moon.......the moon is officially full tonight and I was up miserable and sick most of last night !

I have a friend with Sjogren's and fibromyalgia who agrees with my observations......her symptoms are so much worse every full moon.........

Just curious and wondering if any of you have noticed this also.......

Thanks and BLESSINGS :)

As a nurse we used to comment on the full moon and new moons all the time, so do police officers. The moon has gravitaional effects on the earth, higher tides things like that. More pregnant women deliver during that time and people with medical issues have a more difficult time. Ask any ER nurse and they will tell you they dread full moons and new moons, the ERs are always full then and it gets pretty weird, wild and crazy. So basically to answer your question yes the full moon can affect your symptoms and pain. Others will tell you it is bunk but I've seen way too much of it to believe otherwise. We are made up of 75% water so yes, I believe, it does affect us too and the new moon can have an effect as well.

Hope you start feeling better soon!!

This also happens to me and to my mother, she has RA. We’ve always thought it was because we can’t sleep unless it’s really dark but I can sleep with the nightlight in our bathroom just fine. So I think it’s more that the full moon is causing the problem of not sleeping and feeling horrid. I haven’t been able to sleep the past few days and woke up this morning with a bad sore throat, swollen glands, and painful joints. My mom also went into a flare recently. I don’t know exactly when since we don’t chat everyday. Too many activities with kids…lol I think I’ll start keeping a diary to see if it’s the moon.

Yep, I sure do believe that the full moon effects us "Lupans" and I bet many people will confirm with specifics. Lupancatwoman

I would normal think this was a nutty idea. However I feel like I was run over by a truck last night. I have taken it easy since Monday so there is no explanation for how I feel today. No matter what I do or what I take there is no relief. Hope you feel better with the new moon!

Oh yes. The moon cycles definitely affect our minds, bodies, and spirits! It is an environmental factor, just as winds, and low pressure systems moving through can increase pain for many. More babies are born during full moon, and violent crime increases too. Those who have earth based religious beliefs do their home medicine making according to the moon's phase very often. The claim is it's more effective. Farmers have done planting different crops as well as harvesting according to the moon since before our known written history. Check the Farmer's Almanac sometime!

So, no you are not nuts, and not alone with the increase in symptoms. I always plan a couple of take it easy days when things could affect me. I dread the low fronts, my arthritis goes into overdrive.

So pamper yourself. Grab a great book and get comfy, watch something funny, use any relaxation exercises you know.

hugs, Louise

Thank you Snowwolf for your well wishes.....and you are so right.......I worked E.R.admissions years ago ....so I know what you mean about all that.......thanks for your reply.....BLESSINGS :)

Thanks for the hugs and the input Louise :) I live in Tennessee and learned all about planting the crops and gardens according to the moon signs many years ago :) I have spent the past few days sitting out on my porch and reading and watching the squirrels and chipmunks and birds....and I even sit out there wrapped in a blanket at night when I am sick ....last night was nice and peaceful...... I could hear the hoot owls down in the woods :)

hugs and BLESSINGS..........snowflake :)

Funny you should post this topic... I have not been feeling well the past couple days and last night was especially bad... as I was driving early this morning, I noticed the beautiful, full moon...and was wondering...is this why I am feeling kinda

"yucky"??? and then I see your post...so, in answer to your question..YES..I think the full moon affects our symptoms...

Thanks for your input Daisy...so sad that something so beautiful can have such a negative effect on us....hope you feel better too.....BLESSINGS :)

Glad I could help a little. Hope this gets better for you sooner than later but at least you know about it now. I'm new to this diagnosis too so I have much to learn as well. We'll all get through it full moon or not until the next flare then we 'll figure that out too. Get some rest all of you and feel better soon. Thoughts are with all of you. Snowwolf

Yes, indeed it does. The lupus, the fibro, and most people feel a little off kilter or some a lot such as the crazies. My two sisters and I have been tracking this for years. My older sister has discovered when the wind blows from the east we hurt much worse and that is true. I can never figure out which way the wind is blowing and since she has a pond and can see the ripples on the water I will call her to ask her if I am hurting so bad because of east winds. Most of the time the answer is yes.

Another thing....mercury is going into retrograde on the 22nd and that can create havoc with many things including computers which is something I noticed over the years before I knew about such a thing. Look it up on google and see what you think. My hubby and I were pulling our hair out yesterday with ours and making all kinds of calls for appointments and other type of business related calls and every single person on the other end of the line were having computer problems. So our solar system does play a major part in our lives.

Thanks reet for your info........I do know here in east TN when the east wind blows, it is a cold wind coming down out of the Smoky Mtns....I will start paying attention to that too.......

....and I think this full moon tonight is a double whammy because of a lunar eclipse tonight too !!! and I will be watching out for the computer problems on the 22nd !! Thanks again :) BLESSINGS

i have law and medical people in my family and both agree the more strange cases do come out during a full moon.

All women in my family have hard time sleeping during full moons. So i do feel worse but mainly due to lack of sleep.

Keep a journal as was suggested if you are not sure.

Oh i also noticed that this one set of friends always have huge fights during full moons!!

Fun topic but also sure it helps us to understand our triggers..which is so important so we can plan on how to deal with them.

OHH lunar eclipse is going to happen tonight so lets see what happens now?!! Mainly only see on the Eastern US...i think NPR said tonight..maybe good we do not know and than see how we felt!

Yes siskiyousis,,,,you are right on the not sleeping during the full moon......hey we are still up aren't we ? LOL and the eclipse is tonight too I think.......I guess a lot of us will be up tonight ....just hope we are not all sick and in pain......take care and hope you are able to catch up on your sleep this weekend :) BLESSINGS

I agree with Snow wolf...my family members are in both medical and law enforcement and it does bring out the strange and sick! lol!

Seriously....all the women in my family have harder time sleeping during full moon!! I noticed that set of friends always have big fights at this time of the month too!

So no i would not be surprised if your symptoms are worse....i get worse but mainly due to little sleep but that is due to full moon..well soon have eclipse ....see how that makes us feel?!! lol!

Still up and wishing I was comfortable enough to be in bed and sleeping ! Just like the rest of you out there.

Of all the beautiful mountains I have seen the Smokies are still my favorite.
