Food Differences

Recently, I am not able to tolerate an easy over egg. I can eat them scrambled, but the sight of an easy over egg, doesn't settle well with me anymore. I attribute it to my medication, which upsets my stomach. I know its weird, just wondered if anyone else experienced not being able to eat something, that they could before?

I eat applesauce with my Savella in the morning, and it seems to settle my stomach... Something my husband suggested and it works for me.

I have been repulsed by eggs of any kind off and on for years. I don't know why. Right now I am okay with them. My stomach has not wanted food in it for a couple of hours for years now. Sorry I am no help to you!

I have always been allergic to eggs, scrambled, over easy any way. When I eat eggs, hives develop on my skin followed by breathing problems. I have always had a food allergy to eggs, when I was younger, I used to get nauseous after smelling eggs and then get sick when I ate eggs. I can't get the flu shot because of the egg sensitivity. Now, that I am older, I can not eat most foods that have a high concentration of eggs in the product. I wonder if Lupus patients have that in common an allergy to eggs.

I have never been able to eat the uncooked white part of the egg, it reminds me of snot. I know there is something I used to eat but now it tastes like dirt. I can’t remember what it was though, lol. I guess I’ll find out when I eat it again. I think it’s all the medication I take.

Did you know that egg whites have sulphur/sulfur in them? And people with lupus need to avoid sulfur and sulfa drugs and foods. Alfalfa sprouts have it too. Mom is the same way with sunny side up o over easy eggs. They make her sick fr a couple of hours. She also has lupus. I have found the same problem but not as severe as Mom's, but for some reason, when the eggs are scrambled, it seems the sulfur dissipates some in the scrambling and in the being tossed in the pan.

I know I try to eat hard boiled eggs when I am trying to lose weight and then I get so sick of them, the thought makes me sick! I am not crazy about some foods like I used to be I don't like spicy things anymore. Could be that I am older too!

I’m a vegetarian and I used to eat eggs frequently but now if I have one I feel sick afterwards and even the thought of them makes me queasy. I didn’t know about sulphur and eggs.

Pretty much everything i put in my mouth upsets my stomach. I have to take zofran any time I eat. Spicy food and acidic foods like pizza/spaghetti really do me in.

Since my dad sold our chickens and I've had to eat store bought eggs, it has been almost sickening to me. Not that this relates to the topic as much so, but I go through spells were certain foods do not set well mentally so I avoid them during these times. Usually it passes, don't know if it has anything to do with the disease or not.

Everyone is a help to me. I just wondered what Lupus patients have in common for this illness to develop.

God only knows what kind of shape store bought eggs are in. what conditions the chickens live in, what they are fed and injected with... I tested allergic for eggs. not immediate reaction, delayed, like 1-4 days after eating (along with numerous other foods). I just avoid them all, as well as diet soda, and take digestive enzymes with dinner. It allows me to live drug-free and in remission, which is amazing considering how sick I was.

Thanks for everyone's post. Since Carla mentioned avoiding the diet soda - I wanted to comment on something I saw at the store yesterday with my son. I have stopped using artificial sweetners, particularly Equal almost a year ago. I was looking for a natural sweener, and noticed a Big box of Equal selling for $3.24 for 300 count, and I mentioned the price to my son. When I used to buy it, it was almost $6.00 for 200 count. Seems everyone else is giving up the artificial, and now they can't give it away - at least the Equal anyway.

Completely understand. I can no longer stand any meat. I hate it I can’t even look at it. The sight of it makes me Sick every now and then I’ll crave a bite of chicken or beef then I pay the price by vomiting and can’t eat the rest of the day. Then I’m subjected to a few sips of ginger ale and possibly a shake as a meal. My doctor says it happens to a lot of people but to get my protein in vegetables and fish. I hope you feel better and know you are not alone

yup, people are catching on. they are linking their symptoms to the artificial sweeteners. It's a tough addiction to kick for some of us, but so worth it.

I'm not a big meat eater, and I never ever eat beef or pork. I always disliked those. I get protein sometimes from protein powders that are made solely from plants, and non soy, no GMO, such as Sun Warrior.
