Hi folks, A couple of years ago I suffered the most horrendous headaches with dizziness. This went of for about 15 mths and suddenly stopped one morning. Light was a huge trigger, so I would sit on the lounge all day in front of the fire with the blinds closed and no noise. After 15 mths I couldn't stand it. I can't even begin to describe the relief I felt that morning I awoke and had neither dizziness nor headache.
About 6 mths ago, the dizziness returned, but not to the extent it was previously. I now get dizzy when laying back and turning to the right. It lasts only 3-4 seconds, but scares me every time.
I am currently in the process of diagnosis. I have the rash on my hands and have elevated ANA results. I now assume this is all related to Lupus.
Does anyone suffer dizziness and if so, have you found anything that helps? I know it isn't a biggie this time, but it is chronic.
thanks, Amanda (Noah's Mum)!
Hi Amanda
I have dizziness if I get up to quickly. My friend has a lot of inerear problems and she has trouble with dizziness and turning to one side when lying in bed.
Hi Amanda,
I get it occasionally during the day when my blood pressure is low. If it is on the right it could be that the blood isn't flowing quickly enough to the left side of your brain. It may be worth it to see a cardiologist. I know that it doesn't make sense but there is a condition that slows the velocity of the blood to the brain which causes dizziness. Now, I am not saying that this is the reason, but surprisingly so much is connected. Your kidneys can affect your blood pressure which can affect the pressure of blood to the brain which goes up the left and out the right, etc.
If it is chronic, it is worth seeing a specialist, either a nuero or a cardio.
Good luck and good health,
DeAnne
Thanks DeAnne, what you say makes perfect sense. I will speak to my Dermo about this next week when I see him. I don't think it is a bad idea to be checked over completely in this initial stage of diagnosis so as we have a base line for the future. Good words of advise, thanks again.
Cheers Amanda

Check out benign positional vertigo and epply manuever. Helped me alot. Good luck
Thanks lambchop0103, have been there and done this (a lot) but to the amazement of the ear nose and throat specialist and the physic, made no difference in my case. But delighted the epply works for you! Cheers
Because you mentioned the position of your head, I'm sure this is caused by Meniere's disease. There are treatments for it, meds for it, and one where they reposition your head a certain way to get the fluid in your inner ear to the right place again. That fluid helps your brain balance you, and when it's out of place, makes you dizzy and can become so chronic as to cause those headaches.
Here's more about Meniere's. http://bit.ly/1ad6zWW
Funny you should mention Menieres Sheila W because I recall my mother being stuck in bed with dizziness some 45 yrs ago. She was told it was Menieres at the time. Some 20 yrs ago, her diagnosis changed from Meniere's to MS. 10 days ago, when I called her and read the symptoms from the sheet the dermo had given me, I asked her who this sounded like. She said herself. I actually now believe she has had false diagnosis all these years, and that it was lupus all this time. I was under an Australian Ear Nose and throat Dr, who is reputed to be the best of the best for my illness a couple of yrs ago, the fact that the epply maneuver didn't make any difference for me throughout that period was something he couldn't get his head around. He knew this didn't improve things for me, as at that point my pupils would shake uncontrollably as I would lay back and turn to the right. That is not happening this time around (thankfully). Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is that Menieres was also ruled out last time around. But thanks for the impute.

Oh I'm glad it was ruled out. I know lupus can hit our CNS (central nervous system) and do very strange things. I get the dizziness problem with headache for about 1 month straight each year. I was given SERC for it, not sure what it would be called down where you live. I'm in Canada. When I lived in the USA I got an over the counter antihistamine called Meclizine, but it's not available here in Canada. That serc is magic for my dizziness but it makes you so sleepy that either you're laid out flat with the dizziness or the drowsiness, so you're out of commission either way.

Yes, I suffer with dizziness on/off. It sometimes makes me feel like I am going to faint. I have mentioned this to my doctor. I usually just stand/sit where I am until the dizziness passes.
Dizziness hits me on and off. Usually it’s when I am having a bad flare or am over doing things. I have jitteriness too, shaking, and my nerves always feel tensed up. It like my skin is crawling with things. A constant itch or pull. Especially my face. The dizziness is not always connected to nausea for me. If I am feeling dizzy, I take my cane with me for extra balance.
