I'm wondering if I have fibromyalgia too. Is it possible to have it even if you aren't tender in all the trigger points on your body? For months I have been experiencing increased headaches (feels like tension headache), my shoulders and bicep areas hurt, sometimes I wake up with tingling in my hands (like if my hand were asleep) and my memory and concentration has gone the way of the birds! Sometimes I feel discomfort if I just scratch an itch. Like my skin is saying, "NO, DON'T DO THAT! THOSE NAILS HURT!" Am I just losing it?? I have my rheumy appt at the end of July.
Yes, I am sure you have fibro too as do I. Auto-immune diseases just overlap each other so much it's hard to tell which one the pain is coming from. I also have back and neck issues. I seem to have a lot of headaches that I never used to have. Our weather is now very humid and my fibro is really painful all over.

Sounds like fibro to me. Many people have one, two or more autoimmune related diagnosis that either come about over time, or finally get caught once in treatment for another. Several years back it was decided to not even use tender points as mandatory criteria for a fibro diagnosis, but to look at symptoms instead. (the term trigger points in my experience is used more for myofascial pain syndrome, yep I have it too. a physical therapist who knows their stuff can help greatly)
Unfortunately, the term fibromyalgia is often slapped on someone who they have too much trouble sorting out, and many in the medical community still think it is not real, but more like an attention seeking behavior or having a personal pity party. Please discuss these symptoms with a up to date and knowledgeable rheumy!

Just an update on my condition. i went to my rheumy on thurs. and he did confirm I have fibro. He put me on lyrica to start with. Just add that to my cocktail of meds :) I certainly hope you're in less pain these days!

I was wondering the same thing! I do not have the trigger points either. However-I had a surgery in Feb where they had to put my neck in restraints during the surgery. When I woke up in recovery OH BOY did I scream!!!!! Not at pain at the area of the surgery (cervical spine) but at my shoulders that were put in a vice during surgery. Is it possible that pressure in the trigger areas sparks up the nerve/muscle pain? I have peripheral neuropathy and entrapment syndromes and this pain was more like OW!!!!!! The worst sort of pulled on muscle possible.
One other time did I experience this. Right after my EMG. I spent two days huddled in a ball in severe pain.
I have inflammatory problems in addition to SLE......IC, PF, and IBD. Fibro related?
