Constipated and need laxatives?

I can’t seem to go without laxido the stool softener… I havnt taken it since I’ve started the lupus meds prednisolone and plaquenil… I’m thinking of starting taking laxido again because I’m so uncomfortable with constipation but will my meds interact and cause problems?? Also are there any natural ways to soften my stools?? I already eat fruit and veg plenty

See if this might be helpful:

Thanks I will try some of the tips on there… I also need to know if any laxatives will interact with the drugs I’m taking?? I don’t want to feel worse than I do because of more drugs :frowning: :frowning:

Nope- the laxatives are OK Also drink plenty of fluids

Ok thank you so much I’m going to give it a day or so more with lots of fruit and fluids and tips from that site and if nothing works ill resort to the laxatives

Hi---- I have not posted a comment for a very long time, but i find ALL the information everyone is sharing, is soooooooooooooooooooooooo helpful !!!

I do want to ask if anyone out there looked into Stem cell therapy? I have & it really seems to be the best way to go.

The therapy not only involves using your own cells, but also fetal cells-----all the matter they throw away.

For every 1 cc of fetal cells produce 20,000 new cells.

It is not legal in the USA, but everywhere else in the world. The harsh side of it is that the treatment costs $30,000.

I appreciate any thoughts on this........

Thanks------Peg

Hi-----

I am constipated all the time!!!! awful...... I take a product called "Smooth Move". U can buy it in pill form or tea bags. Any health store has it. This works VERY well & does not drain the body .

I wanted to put a bit of a warning here about colonics or coffee enemas. There are a lot of unscientific claims on the internet about curing lupus (and cancer, and every other disease) with coffee enemas. The Lupus Foundation, however, states that there is no place for colonics for people with lupus because there may be a risk of bowel perforation:

Fiber. Anything loaded with fiber. Dried prunes too. Also, you have to drink plenty of water. It absolutely sucks to get like this. I seem to only have issues from pain meds doing it. Ask the pharmicist and doctor. Sometimes it’s embarassing but all the things that come along with this disease doesn’t leave much room for being embarassed.

Thanks everyone Im going to stick to trying natural methods for a while longer I’m drinking plenty of fruit smoothies and things so hopefully things will start moving along soon

Flaxseed meal. There is also flaxseed cereal. You can put the meal in applesauce, or any baking u do. Good luck!

I'm not sure if you like yogurt but you could try Activia , it works !

Hi Cayleigh,

I've suffered with constipation since a child and i'm now 44 besides being rushed in hospital through it years ago...i've been on all meds going and now having IBS and the gastro specialist putting me on Lactulose twice daily as really helped me plus "CALIFIG" SYRUP OF FIGS which you can buy from a chemist is excellent but you must take the dose stated anymore and it jolts the stomach and can cause pain.

Terri :)
