HAS ANYONE EVER HAD A BONE MARROW BIOPSY? VERY SCARE TO HAVE THIS DONE...
I have not had one, but I've had patients who've had them done. Just relax. Bring some calming music to listen to if it helps. It doesn't take long and they'll numb the area first.
Hi. My partner has had three! Has a rare incurable lymphoma. He did one without anesthetiser… Says they are sore for about a couple minutes bit like having a tooth pulled but then that’s it! With anesthetiser you just feel a bit of tugging. So don’t worry it is over in minutes and really not that bad. Good luck with it. The best thing is to think of something to distract you and then it will be over in no time…
I did have this done, when I was pregnant back in 1988. I’m not sure if the procedure today would be the same today, I did well, I got up right after and walked around. I can give you details, sounds worst than it actually was, good luck. Feel free to ask me for further details.
Kathy
thank you, Kathy.
I dodged the bullet on that procedure! My blood tests came back with a positive for MGUS which is associated with bone cancer. The oncologist said that if it showed up in my urine test that she was waiting on that I would have to have a bone marrow biopsy. Luckily it didn't show up in the urine test so I just have to keep an eye on it and be tested every 6 months unless I get symptoms similar to bone cancer before then.
I've talked to some who did well with it and a few who were really sore afterwards so good luck with yours and let us know how it goes, especially the results, I will keep you in my prayers that all results are good.
