Abdominal pain solved!

I had an MRCP(abdominal MRI) this morning. Results show I have lots of gallstones, gallsludge, and inflammation in the gallbladder. My primary said I need it removed asap especially because im in such constant pain with it and the nausea and bile always coming up my throat. Have to see what my gastro and rheumatologist say though.. Im still very unstable and on Cytoxin for a bit so Im not sure if im a candidate for any surgery right now. The rhuemy s on Monday and gastro is April 21 with cytoxin in between. Hopefully my rhuemy will write me morphine again for breakthrough and my abdominal pain because my fentanyl patch and tramadol is not quite enough to manage the pain anymore.

I had my gallbladder removed in 2005.....if the surgeon can go in through your belly button it isn't a bad surgery and you will feel SO much better.... Inflamed gallbladder/stone pain, in my opinion, ranks right up there with kidney stone pain. Hopefully you will get it removed soon and it will make you feel so much better. If you have it removed you may have loose stools or even diarrhea as your body learns to take over the activity of the gallbladder in a different manner---I believe the liver takes over. Stay on the doctors and get this taken care of ASAP....Until then, hang in there dear one! LupanCatwoman

I agree with Lupancatwoman, gallbaldder surgery is not anything like it use to be 20 years ago. Done with laser i believe, and i know i got to go home same day. I was scheduled to stay the night but i hate hospitals and as i pointed out to surgeon, more likely to get an infection here than at home. So he thought about it and let me go home early evening...after i ate and kept it down.

This is one thing i like to point out to people on pain medication. IF you ever have severe pain that breaks through your normal pain and is very different than your normal pain, do not ignore it! Do not let ER doctors ignore it without a through check and few tests to check for things like gall bladder inflammation, or appendicitis at least. Plus as women if you have your uterus through, pain can be sign of it having issues so those areas should also be checked out. In fact if you are running a fever, not low grade one but full one, i try to insist they find what is wrong.

Just often we hear how ER or any doctor really, overlooking severe pain when we know something is not right..they want to write it up to our normal pain..but being on pain medication it should be huge warning to them as well, if we are having severe break through pain. I have had ER take it seriously and another time just gave me more pain meds, said see my ob in am. Well i ended up having something seriously wrong both times. With surgery done same day. So please listen and trust yourself about if it is different pain. Even if not very severe, many women have heart attacks cooking holiday dinners and ignore the pain..later as day goes on their bodies get more sick and eventually most get in...but some it is too late! Women just are not taken as seriously and often have tolerance levels. So listen, check in with your body and ask it if this is one of those times to listen.

i am hope your surgery goes very well...and that like me you do not need to even stay the night. I have no scar and pain is gone. So well worth it to feel much better immediately!!. I think you just cannot move or lift heavy items for few days and that is it for recovery.

Thank you for sharing. I've been sort of not participating much on the site, I guess I'm still in denial most days. The last few weeks I've been having the worst abdominal pain especially after sitting for too long it's almost unbearable trying to stand up after sitting. I guess I should go get this checked out.
