I finally met with my Infectious Disease Dr. He was very thorough. Took a lot of time, and explained the treatment. I will be put on three antibiotics, simultaneously. I will need to stay on these three additional meds, for 12 - 15 months. He said what I have is an A-typical TB, it is A-typical because it is not contagious. It is very often found with people who have HIV, OR women in their mid sixties, who are immunosuppressed. (That’s me) I understand it is a very virulent bacteria, is from the environment, air, soil…
I am concerned, as I have had C-diff twice, have had a fundoplycation, due to reflux, and I am not able to vomit, and these medications cause nausea, and vomiting. I often feel very nauseated, and often begin to retch, and retch, it truly racks my body, and is exhausting. All I want to do is sleep. Except I have so many Dr. appointments.
I also have interstitial cystitis, ( lupus related) and I have been having more pain, and blood in my urine. I am scheduled for a CT scan of the abdomen next Wednesday. Then a follow-up cystoscope. I have almost continuous headaches,
Has anyone had these same issues, and what have you found that helped you? What were your side effects to the medications given for the bacterial TB? Any information would be very much appreciated.
Depends on the meds but you should be on something for your nausea As I have gotten older I have developed atrophic gastritis which causes nausea but it well controlled with Prilosec and just plain ole crackers- feeling queasy- eat a couple of crackers Also you really should be on probiotics Cdiff can occur when it overgrows the healthy bacteria in your gut - which antibiotics can destroy Sooooo learn to LOVE yogurt :>)
Thank you so very much for your comments and prayers, they are very much appreciated. I am on an anti- nausea medication, it’s called Ondansetron ODT 4mg tablets. When I was in the hospital for my colon resection and overies removed, they put me on the nausea medication. I believe in total I am taking something like 18 or so medications, I don’t want to complain about all my illnesses, this A-typical TB, is just the most recent. I do also eat yogurt and take other probiotics. The C-diff first began when I had spinal meningitis and the heavy duty antibiotics I was on, wiped out all the good bacteria in my colon. I got it again when I had my colon-resection surgery. The best way I have learned to cope with all the mounting illnesses to to take one day at a time. I do my bests to live in the moment. I have many blessings, family, friends, and now this support group. So, I thank you all, once again. With love.
