Worried!

They make a very small incision on the right side of the torso under the ribs. On me, they only put a bandaid. Yes, the cut is that small! The anesthesia was local. I was awake the whole time, and it only took a few minutes to do.

As it turned out to be, my NASH is in the third of the four stages. The damage is irreversible.

About 20 years ago my liver enzymes were through the roof. They told me that I had NASH or nonalcoholic fatty liver. They made me go and have a liver biopsy. They wanted to participate in a study which would involve me coming in at regular intervals to have liver biopsy's as well as the blood test. I did not want additional liver biopsies and declined to participate.

Now my liver enzymes are fine. There was never any specific treatment prescribed by a physician. One of the things that I did was to pay a lot more attention to what I asked my liver to filter. I think that one of my major problems was chronic dehydration. By not drinking enough water I was asking my liver to clean the same blood fluid over and over again. I sincerely hope that your liver is just asking you for a little more water to make it easier for it to its job.

Don't worry. The liver has great powers of recuperation.

My liver specialist says otherwise. Damage to a liver can be irreversible, like my joints are busted and never will they return to be, unless I operate on them and make them "bionic". There is always the choice of a liver transplant. I can live a long life if I find out what is wrong and take care of my liver thereafter. You're right.

NASH doesn't fall into Hep. A or B. I loved the video you quoted. Although my dr. quoted the same stages, he stressed it was neither of the above.

I know this isn't as cute as your video, and I almost fell asleep with this dr. talking, but here it is

And no, I am not fat. My 133 lbs. (wet) is my evidence. In my case it comes from many drs. overlook of my elevated glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, and BP. All these happened when the autoimmune factors began showing. Not one single dr. stopped to consider this. Now my liver is fatty, fibroid, and scarred.

And I loved it!!! Thanks! NASH stands for Non-Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis, which I wish I did not have...It's amazing how much you learn when drs. say you have a condition...

Amen. Although losing weight is the first suggestion recommended for NASH, and taking Vitamin E, I wasn't as lucky as you were to have caught it in time. It would have made a lot of difference. Know any good lawyer?

I am new to this NASH business, you know...still learning and trying new things all the time to help the drs. help others if I can.

Aww...Thanks a lot. Without Him I wouldn't be here. God is my strength and life.

Autoimmune hepatitis is an autoimmune disease and not viral or alcoholic related. It can cause severe cirrhosis and liver failure.

Yikes!!!

Didn't mean to scare anyone. There are a few non viral/non alcoholic liver diseases. And lupus can affect the liver as well witout it being any of the previously mentioned.

Thanks everyone so much all of this is really helpful!!!

Scare me? What else can happen to me? Die? Don't think it's the worst. Being dead while living is worse. I still try to enjoy every single minute I have. The day I leave it'll be without regrets, happy to have accomplished so much, help so many.
