Withdrawal symptoms, was not prepared for this

My new doctor is working on getting me off of a lot of the unnecessary medicine that my old doctor had me on so he can treat me for lupus more effectively. He said it was going to be hard, and there would be withdrawal symptoms. That’s why he was going to take it kinda slow. But man I was not ready for the way I feel. Anyone know a way to make this a little bit easier.

What meds are being decreased and what are your symptoms with withdrawal? For aches and pain long hot baths might help

Gabapantin and Cymbalta

Got the shakes, on edge really bad.

I am sorry to hear that Tarra. It might be a good idea to put a call into your doctor. Going off one medication at a time might be easier. Hang in there and keep us updated. Hugs.

It’s probably not a good idea to go off both at the same time. Cymbalta is very hard to come off of and can cause many problems you have to wean off. Look at Ann A’s blog about cymbalta. I hope you are not going cold turkey on these meds!

The gabapantin is tapered. The Cymbalta I Have No choice. I ran out.

Then it is most likely the cymbalta. The doctor should lower your dose as you wean off of it.

Hope you feel better soon.
