So here I sit in the hospital. After more than 2 months of dealing with shortness of breath, it got so bad that I couldn't stand up without sucking wind. I finally had my husband take me to the ER last night. Turns out I have blood clots in my lungs. Apparently quite a few of them. I'm on heparin and am going to be here for several days until my blood levels go up and the clots start to dissolve.
I want to thank you all for your replies. If any of you have any prayers for a quick and safe recovery, I'd appreciate them too.
My prayers and thoughts are with you. In Feb of 2011 I had the same thing happen it was scarey. Now I am on warfin and have to keep check on levels so that added a another Dr. But I am doing fine. Stay strong and smile
I am so sorry to hear this. I too am on Plaquinel and have noticed I get winded with relatively little activity! I will check with my Dr. If this continues.
I pray for your complete recovery!
SORRY TO HEAR THAT. I'M PRAYING FOR A SPEEDY RECOVERY AND MAY GOD GIVE YOU STRENGTH AND HELP YOU GET YOUR HEALTH BACK TO NORMAL.I'M SO GRATEFUL YOU MADE A SMART MOVE AND I'M GLAD YOU GETTING THE TREATMENT THATS NEEDED. I'M ON PLAQUENIL ALSO AND I BEEN EXPERIENCING SHORTNESS OF BREATH TOO.I HAVE BEEN ON PLAQUENIL FOR 9 YEARS.WITH THIS ILLNESS ITS VERY UNPREDICTABLE. ONE DAY YOU CAN FEEL FINE THE NEXT DAY YOU FEEL LIKE A TRUCK RUN YOU OVER. ENOUGH ABOUT MY ISSUES, I WOULD KEEP YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN MY PRAYERS.GET WELL SOON..
Thank you all so much! I'm feeling tons better today. Having Lovenox injections now and Coumadin. I'm able to walk back and forth to the bathroom without sucking air....something I haven't been able to do in months. Doctor says home probably Saturday and 3 months on blood thinners.
Doctor said I didn't present like a normal bilateral embolism. He also said that they frequently catch blood clots in the lungs by accident, so its important to keep pushing when you know something is wrong if they don't find something at first. Lesson learned. WELL learned.
Can't wait to get home to my son and start doing things again.
Of course, as clutzy as I am, I'm going to have to be very, very careful and I'm obviously going to have a bunch of bruises, but hey, at least I'll be able to breathe!!
Sorry to hear your in hospital but as the doctor told you where the clots came from in the lungs...there's ususally two main causes to that and they do cause breathing troubles, it's either DVT where a clots moved or several and lodged in the lung and the other is plurisy....so i'd ask the doctor treating you plus also mention scaning on your legs to make double sure.
It's best you know this so you can fire the questions to make double sure and as a rule a blood test is also done to check on furying up on artries to the heart.
My thoughts are with you on your recovery and wishing you all the very best.
My Name is Kathleen and I dont get on this site very much. My Lupus is somewhat under control. When I was first diagnosed with Lupus SLE, They put me on Plaquinal. I found out real fast that I am highly allergic to it. It was so awful and painful.
I have a Great Rheumatologist! I need him now and he and his nurse are on vacation.
