I hope everyone is doing well! I just finished my 3rd week of school and things have been going great! I got good news from my nephrologist that there are no more traces of RBC and protein in my urine, which is very good news! and he also said I don't have to stick with my low sodium diet, but I need to get that cleared up with my rheumy, first.
However, with the good news.. I decided to treat myself to pizza, that same day I got the good news. And ever since my stomach hasn't been right. I'm not sure if it was the pizza or the amount of fruits and fiber I took on that day.
It's been at least 4 days now and I'm terrified to eat. The first day, whenever I would eat something... The pains were like something clawing at my insides. The 2nd day it was pretty much the same and then the following days, they either happen at random or after I would eat. The bowel movements arn't pretty either :/
My rheumy prescribed me some prilosec... But i'm terrified to eat it since I'm not suppose to take antiacids with my cellcept~
I'm getting my stomach xrayed soon, but until then... It's like playing russian roulette with food and my stomach.
My only words of wisdom on this, is to take Ann's advice. It makes sense that you need a little something in your tummy. Let us know how you are getting along?
Prilosec is not an antacid like Tums or Maalox which blocks the absorption of medication by neutralizing acid that is already present in your stomach- Prilosec prevents you from making excess acids - check with your doctor -you should be able to take it. In the meantime take small bland low fat meals until your gut settles down
I hope it's not an ulcer, though :( But I guess I'll have to wait and see when I get those xrays done, hopefully on tuesday~
I went and called my pharmacist, she just told me to space my medication out if I do take the prilosec. But I'll make sure I eat something, just not looking forward to the after effects.
I'll keep you guys up to date once I get some news!
I agree with you, pharmacist are great people and the majority of people don't seek out their advise near enough.
Hang in there Julie, I hope you are feeling better : )

I too hope that it is not an ulcer. But the only stomach pain for which I ever been prescribed Prilosec was caused by an ulcer. They also prescribe it for GERD. And for some more complicated conditions that increase stomach acid.
I have constant stomach issues. Lupus can attack all that too unfortunately. Also the meds we take are tough on our stomachs. Been on prilosec etc for many years. Hope u feel better soon!! ((Hugs))
I am pleased to hear your good news as you've been doing so well but sorry to hear about your stomach with Lupus many issues can cause this...like Ann mentioned Ulcer, it could be IBS which i'm having alot of trouble off as you know and the list can go on but if your frightened to eat solid foods...at least have some soup and put 2 pieces of bread in it because at least your systems having something.
Please let we know when your date comes for the scan.
My pharmacist is such a lovely person, since I see him at least twice a month.. Maybe more. About almost everyone there knows who I am, now... So it's a little easier going and retrieving my medication.
Along with the stomach issues. I saw my Rheumy today, and it seemed like I had too much acidic fruits that threw my stomach off. Everything is fine now, now that the pain has gone away. Why does these things always happen? You have some sort of problem but by the time you get it checked out, it pretty much healed itself?
But since I wasn't experiencing any pains, we didn't go through the x-rays, instead he just poked at my stomach.
But if it happens again, the rheumy will be ordering tests for me to get done, but until then he said to not to eat so much acidic things that will upset my stomach.
At least that's a relief, but I wish the pain was sorta still around to get that checked out~
But let's hope it doesn't come back! But thank all for your help and support!
I am pleased you managed to speak with your rheumo and he told you the circumstances, these issues occur when your low in your body with stomach acid deficiency and when you do absorb it, it upsets your stomach.
Oh you did make me laugh then, no scan happened so he just had a good poke about.lol...i say when you come to think, some just don't bother.
Well i hope it does'nt come back but i'd still ask about the acid deficiency next time you see him plus thanks for letting we all know how things went.
I am doing fine today! The past few days i've been avoiding those acidic fruits and my stomach has been settling, now. I'm just glad that experience is over, but I'll be prepared for next time!
Lovely to hear off you mate and also know your doing better.
You know better now and it's not worth the risk on some issues...i know when i eat tomatoes or peppers the pain and spasms i get from them double me up...so i soon knocked those on the head.
Just try an watch what you eat and have a pleasant evening.
