I would contact your local Aging and Disability Resource Center, they will assist you with the application.
They have a website which gives you detailed directions and you can initiate the application on line Following that you will need to gather medical records from all your doctors - they will also request records from the doctors but I gathered my own to be sure they got everything plus my pharmacy records. You will get a multipage form to fill out which outlines your physical disabilities that prevent you from working from your perspective and your doctor will be asked for same You may be asked to see another doctor employed by them as well. The whole process takes about 6 months and disappointingly about 75% are denied the first go around. You are only eligible for payments to start after you have been unemployed for 6 months It also helps if you check out your state level disability A friend of mine could not get Medicare disability but could get SSI The kicker is that you have to prove that you are physically incapable of working ANY job and being able to earn $900 a month- that is their threshold And that can hard to prove Just having the dx of lupus won't do :>(
