Special car window tan

Hi since I have photosensitive, bad rash after sun. I am think about special darker window tan for my car. I already found out the regulation form from state DMV website. I just need dr to sgin the form. Then where do I look for to do this darker tan window? Does anyone have experience to do this kind of treatment to the car? Does it really help?

Thank you for inputs!

It is a good idea because if you spend a lot of time in your car the sun definitely does affect your skin. I did have my house windows treated to protect art and furniture and it does help. Usually places that do vinyl roof repairs would also do tinting. Try checking your area on line.

I have all the same questions as you. My dermatologist has recommended this for me. Where did you find the form?

I have had window tinting added to our car to help add a layer of protection from the sun. It blocks both UVA and UVB rays, and thus limits the impact sunshine has on my Lupus. You will want to have it professionally installed for the best result. Doing a web search for your area and "auto tint" should provide local places that will install it. For hot areas, like where I live, it also cuts down on how hot it gets in the car! Added benefits all around. I highly recommend it, and is (or was for us) relatively inexpensive, surprisingly so.

I know that some of these places also offer home window tinting. I kind of would like to do this too, but not sure at the cost level of such an endeavor, as there are a LOT more windows in the house than the car, hehe.

Hi Sophia. I also experience the same kind of itching and red flared skin when in the sun. My car has the special tint but Ive found that the sun still manages to touch my hands either through the front windscreen or the passenger window. I try to keep a scarf in my car for those days when the sun hits me harshly on my face, I drape the scarf around my head and neck and use sunglasses to cover my eyes. I also want to sew myself elasticated sleeves that I can pull up my arms to protect them from the sun. Its pretty easy, cut off the long sleeves from a shirt you no longer use. Add an elastic band to the top, not too tight so as to still be comfortable and voila! Arms protected!

Good luck in finding your solution.

I should mention that I have recently discovered that there is actually CLEAR window film for your car that can be put on your windshield that cuts the UV rays as well! Bubbly, you might look into that and see if you can find somewhere in your area that offers that. I have no idea on cost, but a friend of mine had it done to her car.

Thanks I'll have a look. Will speak to Merc Benz about it too, just in case it has insurance implications.

All the best guys!
