Sore hamstring

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is doing as well as expected. I have been having some crazy soreness in my hamstring muscle and it's getting worse. I can't walk up steps and when I sit it bothers me. I don't know what I need to do inlight of going to the doc, I just hate going for every little thing (and I can't afford it for every little thing).. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what did you do or does anyone have any suggestions?

Hey I have had that before Torie. I usually apply a heating pad to it. At work I sit by a litte heater and that often help as well. Try it out and let me know.

I have had this too. It seems to be weather related for me. I agree with Blessed, heating pad helps. so does mild stretching. I find that walking it out helps also. but don't push your self.

I have not been on this site for quite awhile - have been actually doing very well - I am completely off prednisone for 2 months now. I saw your subject of your hamstrings and it made me look here and see what other people are saying. I have had the very same problem for about 3 months now. I have had massages from orthopedic massage specialists and acupuncture to try and make this feel better. For awhile I thought I was going to become crippled it hurt so bad! I am curious as to what we all find is causing this - I figured it was the degeneration in my spine from the Lupus that has caused this (I have shrunk 3 inches over the past 10 years which my Rheumatologist says came from Lupus). Light stretching (yoga) does seem to help.

I have very sore muscle in my calf that never goes away. Won’t stretch or massage out. Been that way for about 7 months now. What causes this problem?

Thanks all.. I took a few motrins and a meloxicam pills, it seems to be getting a little better/. I think I need to get my butt back on my meds the right way and i won't have all of these issues.. I'm also stretching a little bit but it hurts so much I can't do much. I'll keep at it and see what happens.

Meloxicam does help!

yes, Jan.. I would definitely have to agree.. and if I had been taking them like I'm suppose to then I probably wouldn't be in so much pain..I'm going to do better with my meds.

I know what you feel - I try to not take the Meloxicam every day and my husband gets mad at me when I don't. I take so many supplements & herbs and some meds as is! I have a DVD that I love - it is called Qigong (pronounced Chee-gong) for Cleansing. It is meditative slow stretches & breathing control.

I have had the same problem for weeks! So your not alone…

This is just really weird! Here I thought all this time I was having problems that no one else did! I would give anything if someone could tell us what this is and what causes it!

Hi Jan, does the video seem to help reduce the pain at all... I too hate all the meds I have to take and I have the hardest time taking them.. With time I know i'll get better

Yes - it really does seem to help. I don't do it every day like I should and I can tell when I need to do it. One of the massage therapists that I've had told me that his whole family has auto immune issues and out of all of them he is the healthiest because of the yoga that he does and the foods he eats (or doesn't eat). Do you follow an anti inflammatory diet? That is what I have found has really helped my Lupus to be in control!
