Rosacea, go away!

I’ve never had a problem with the skin on my face until a few months ago. My rheummy gave my Colcrys for two weeks…worked well, but that didn’t last long. Now my face is a mess. Should I go to a dermatologist or is this something I have to just live with?

If it’s facial redness, that can be a side effect of prednisone. I only get rid of redness when I get off of it.
If it’s acne from prednisone and Rosacea, I have had a lot of success with Minocin. That was prescribed by my pc.

Rosacea used to be called "adult acne." This was my first hint a the storm to come. My "rosacea" was biopsied and turned out to be discoid lupus. Unrelated to my biopsy, rosacea is now considered "autoimmune," without being related to DL.

Also, as Steinfadt1 explains, prednisone has all kind of side effects on the skin.

You go to hold on!

My sister and I have rosacea. Dermatologists don't have a lot of answers. I have found that coconut oil helps a lot (use daily), natural treatments seem to be less toxic and more helpful. Google "rosacea natural treatment" and dozens of helps will come up.Here's one product I was going to try before I found that I like the gentle natural remedies better. It's called Prosacea. Rosacea can be caused by different things. Allergies, auto immune disease, anemia and more Mine is caused by a heart problem. The more my heart acts up, the worse my rosacea gets.

Thank you all for the comments…I’ve been using coconut oil for a while with no noticeable difference. Haven’t been on prednisone for a while…though I have done a couple of tapers in the past few months. I wonder if that triggered it. I have read a possible connection with rosacea and candida…well, Ive been battling systemic candida for 3 years now. I’ll be starting a round of Fluconozole today…will be curious to see if it makes a difference. I will report back in a week or two. :slight_smile:

Hi Flygirl, Using LDN has helped mine some. Its not perfect, but better! :)

Lulu,

I had been on ldn for about two years…but weaned off of it a couple months ago…i actually feel a little better off it. One less medication was ok with me. But thank you for the suggestion. :slight_smile:

What’s LDN?

LDN= LOW DOSE NALTREXONE
It is really used for assisting getting off of opiates…but is also used for people with MS or other immune problems. At very low doses it does give you a boost of energy for the day.

Thank You

Mom was on fluconazole permanently, still didn't help her candida much. Last month I read that a tablespoon or 2 of coconut oil a day kills candida, and it sure keeps it under control for mom better than prescriptions and less toxic, no side effects.

My daughter had to get her kids some cortizone 10 intensive healing lotion for Eczema and dry skin . As ask your doctor to perscribe you Ketoconazole shampoo2%, it really helped me , wishes go out to you Beverly L. P.s. you have to use the shampoo every other day and mix the cortizone with just a little pure vaseline , as needed for the itching ...xoxo
