Just wondered if anyone has had problems with Cipro...it is making me feel horrible. I have never had problems with antibiotics before, but this one is kicking my butt.
Me too I got these horrible looking lumps under my eyes and took benadryl and it seems to help me because I tend to have a sensitive to medication so now am remembering cupro was one of the causes oilf lupus check out www.fda.gov and type in lupus and then cipro hope you will feel better
Hi
I have a critical allergic reaction to cipro and levoquin. Levoquin sent me to ther er. I had Stevens Johnson, that's not good. I never had a reaction to any antibiotic til about 5 years ago and I am 73. Maybe there is a connection to them and our wonderful LUPUS.

Yes, cipro and levoquin made me very sick. I think I was even hallucinating a little bit, I never felt so weird in my life!!
I have never been sensitive to anything before and I am 65! Feel better soon!
I had the worst flare Ive ever had after taking cipro and levoquin. I was extremely ill for well over a year. My joints ached so bad that no pain reliever worked. My heart was out of rhythm for over a yr also. This was after taking the antibiotic for only a few wks. I will never take either one of them again. I couldnt go through it again. My body handles amoxicillian a little better. It flares me and makes me weak but I muttle through it.
I had swelling and headache and felt miserable with cipro, I stopped it immediately and took Benadryl. Benadryl helped. Will not take any of the quinolones (levaquin, cipro, floxin, etc.) again.
I got tendinitis of my ankles with Levaquin & Floxin. I won’t be taking these drugs again as they can cause tendon rupture &should be taken off the market.
Happy Easter everyone. Sounds like there might be a connection to lupus. Interesting to see how many of us have the same issues.

One of my Dr’s told me it’s the Sulfa in the drug. I had reactions before I was dc with lupus. Now it makes more sense. No sulfa for me!! I flare to the point that I need a wheelchair.
I don't think so I am given sulfa for uti's and it does not affect me the way cipro did.
I guess we are all different, I can't take sulfa either. However, the cipro and similar drugs are like super drugs so they are so much stronger.
