Pregnancy

thinking of having a baby soon.
just wanna know if anyone with lupus has had a baby and what you had to go through with the pregnancy. please let me know. it would really help.

Congratulations on choosing to live life. Call Hopkins lupus center they have a pregnancy section under Dr. Petri. Congrats!

I’ve had 2 who are now 4 and 20 months. Both my pregnancies were fairly easy and I delivered both naturally but did have extensive bleeding the first time, we were ready for it with the second. I did well but my second did have neonatal lupus until the placental antibodies died off, super sun sensitive for the first year. Getting pregnant and staying pregnant with our first was hard it took 4 years and 3 miscarriages to have her with the second I was pregnant within a month of trying.

hey crystal have a question for you---have you ever been tested for APS--Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome , have post ANA???I'm Just wondering if you have or not, I also had 3 misscarriages but before I had my 2 kids, & it was tough also..I test pos for APS & am now on blood thinners--as clots caused them the antibodies caused my blood to be to thick & clot. Just wondering if this was the same for you..or was your misscarriages a diff, reason. I never tested pos for lupus SLE have lupus symptoms but was never tested for other forms of LUpus. Just interested in your preg experiences & autoimmine diagnosis--to see if your experince is like mine..

You are immunocompromised now and pregnancy is also an immunOcompromised condition. Cytomegalovirus is a hazard that you will face that is not normally discussed because there is no money in its treatment. It is one of the largest causes for birth defects resulting from infection in this country. It is a complete non issue for someone who is not immunocompromised. Testing is not normally done, but insist on it before becoming pregnant. If you test positive for the antibodies, great no issue. 85% of the US population tests positive by the age of 40. The major risk is contracting it while pregnant. Discuss infection control with your doctor regarding this, and discuss the possibility of intetionally contracting it and dealing with it before pregnancy as a preventative measure to protect your baby when it is safest to do so. There is no vaccine.

Although I wasn't diagnosed with lupus at the time, my last 2 pregnancies ended with a 3 month premie, and the last a miscarriage at 7 weeks.

I do hope you have a better experience, but it is very important to let your gyno know that you are thinking of becoming pregnant so that your vitals can be monitored vertical closely.

I am rooting for you.

Hi

I was not diagnosed at the time of my pregnancy but was having symptoms. With the 1st one I gained a lot of weight and was toxic had c-section. With the 2nd no problems at all gained 26 pounds. With both I felt very good the whole time. I think talking to your doctor and being sent to an ob specialist would be a good ideal. A friend of mine is seeing a doctor an hour from here and he did all kinds of test and diet changes before he wanted her to get pregnant. she is now due in 2 weeks and every thing is fine.

Just had a baby last month which nearly cost me my life! My1-Pound preemie still lives in an incubator hopefully for no more than the next 90 days…

I had 3 miscarriages … Had one natural and two invitro ,I was diagnost after my second misscarige. Now I’m on the blood thinners injections protocol.
So far it’s been very difficult for me to recover each time …
Good luck
