I am back on prednisone for pleuritis/pleurisy. It doesn’t seem to help like it used to. Has anyone noticed this? Or maybe my symptoms are just worse. They have been over the past year. Two years ago if I took a prednisone taper I would feel amazing! My joint pain would almost go away and oh the energy! Now I can take 30-40 mg and still have the horrible chest or lung pain. Experiences or thoughts?
I did a tapering dose in june for a really bad rash, while it with the ointment cleared up the rash. But I noticed since then my stomach has been all messed up again, I've had pleurissy I hadn't had any real problems till I took the prednisone, maybe our bodies just rebel against it, the pleurissy has cleared up on its own without more prednisone. I for one plan to avoid it at all costs, for me anyway up until about 2 months ago was doing alright without any doctors or medications.
There is another RX you can asked your doctor about for the problem. It is called atarax! I sometimes have to take both.
Best of luck to you and hope your feeling better soon!

When I was on prednisone the first time I felt totally great, but over the years it seems I experience the not so fun side effects more than the benefit. It still works but it may be that it an old stand by now, then it was totally new to the body so it felt different.
Same exact thing happened to me! I went on a tapering dose several weeks ago and felt NOTHING. 3-7 years ago I got a burst of energy and fast ailment improvement but not this time. I am down to 5mg a day and will try to get off Prednisone (I had started using it every day at this dose about a year ago). Maybe it will work better if I stay off a maintenance dose---who knows! Trial and error is our way of life. Hope you feel better soon!
It didn't work better---I have been in the hospital back on steroid IV and morphine IV as well. I am back on 60 mg tapering down to 5-10 and then going on Benlysta.....second try for me on that med....
