Not asthma

I had a methocholine challenge test today. True to form, I am a “complex case”. My numbers INCREASED so I don’t have asthma. I can’t believe how many times over the past 15 years, I told doctors that rescue inhalers DO NOT help. Duh, I don’t have asthma. Could anyone say inflammatory response. Even before being dx with UCTD, I kept saying that I do not fit the profile of an asthmatic. Now, maybe they will finally listen and finally look for the real reason I get winded, especially when my sinuses get inflamed. Maybe that will change the approach to treatment. I guess we do know our own bodies best.

What is UCTD?

Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease. It's the "something inflammatory is going on with your joints and connective tissues, but we don't know what it specifically is yet" diagnosis. Sometimes folks just stay in this diagnosis. Sometimes later on they find something additional to help differentiate it to a more specific diagnosis, like Lupus.

Sounds like you may have Churg-Strauss disease. It’s an autoimmune disease that affects the lungs and sinuses. Have you been checked for that yet? I know various forms of Vasculitis are common in people with lupus. Please get checked. The medications are similar in trying to turn off the immune response but a bit different. Please let me know what your doctor says. Take care! Tina

I was scanned for vasculitis and do not have it. When I read about Churg-Strauss disease, I do not have the symptoms. Thanks for the suggestion

Roxy, thank God! I’m glad you don’t have that! I have a friend that does and it can be rough. I will keep you in my prayers that they find out what’s going on! Inflammation stinks where ever it is! Hang in there!

Thank you for your kind wishes
