Hi was just wondering if anyone has nerve pain as their main symptom of Lupus. I have neuropathy in hands and feet. My joints are ok, but get pains in between my fingers. Hands and feet have symptoms of both slight raynards and erythromeglia. Going to a new rhemotologist in February. I have had three so far. First one 12 years ago said def lupus and put me on Planquinel. ANA was high, complements low and anticardiolipen high. Then OK for awhile. Then had same symptoms and found another rhemy closer to me. At that time only ANA was high and she said I had UCTD. Since 2010 have been getting electric shocks through body. parathesias, hot burning feet and hands etc. 1st EMG said radiculapathy, 2nd EMG said nothings wrong, 3rd EMG said diffuse neuropathy. I know erythromeglia is considered a small fiber neuropathy. Had two skin biopsies..2 years apart. Both normal. Neurologists kind of blew me off and told me to go to rhemy. It def is some kind of neuropathic pain which I know you can get in Lupus, but can that be the main and almost only symptom? Thanks
You need to get your nerves tested also to make sure you don't have nerve damage besides and Erythromelalgia causes neurological symptoms so this where your electrical shocks are coming from in the body that's why i say as your rheumo if you can have your nerves tested also.
This link explains alot on your condition of Erythromelalgia which is also linked with Raynauds a majority of the time as there's a discussion on it in the Raynauds group on the main page.
Raynauds which i also have can cause alot of nerve issues besides killing nerves through the damage it causes....so please press foward for a "Nerve conduction study" (NCS) or "Nerve conduction Velocity test" (NCV)
Hi I have raynauds syndrome with lupus and your hand and feet hurt and burn from water retention. You should be taking water pills trust me my hands and feet was so bloated I couldn’t bend my fingers and my opinion stay away from salt it makes it worse.best wishes
I have Lupus (SLE) and have a lot of neuropathy pain in my feet. I'm on Lyrica which helps some and I take Tramadol to help me manage the pain. Some days, though, it feels completely unmangageable!! Nights are the worst for me. I had an EMG a year ago to get the definite diagnosis for my feet.
Oh, I also have Raynaud's Syndrome and I take Nifedipine which has helped me immensely. I rarely have any trouble with it...well, a little, but nothing like it was before the med.
I did some lifting recently that was too heavy for me. It caused stabbing pins and needles in my right forearm. I was referred to a physical mecicine specialist (not a neurologist) and his diagnosis was on the money. I had injured nerves in my arm and spine and neck as well as caused tendonitis. He gave me a shot of kenalog into the nerve in my neck that was affected. First time this kind of treatment has worked on me 100%.
I have SLE and 3 other autoimmune diseases plus Raynauds. The cause of this was not my diseases, but my stubborness. It essentially was an injury. It might help to get checked out by such a doctor.
Hope you can figure it out and that you feel better.
Have you seen the discussion which as been done on Tremadol...some useful inforamtion on there about the drug itself.
Terri :)

I have some of the same issues along with a neck tremor and shaking in hands. Sometimes it feels like I have little paper cuts all over my feet. I also have raynauds. No specific diagnosis for the hands neck and feet. My emg came back normal except for carpel tunnel which is not enough to explain all that is happening. My rheumy wants me to see neuro. Who knows??? It is frustrating and exhausting!!! All we can do is stay strong and keep fighting!!! Good luck!!!

I’m a little nervous about it but I’m curious if it helps nerve pain and general pain of lupus flares and my severe RA. How do you all feel about this pain?
