Medicinal Marijuana

Controversial, yes ~ Illegal / legal, depends on where you live.

Wondering if anybody has any experience with this & what your thought are.

My Rheumy has totally weaned me off Prednisone, haven't had any for less than a week and I already feel like crap. I have my next appt on Thursday and she has already told me that if I don't do well off the Prednisone that she wants to start me on Methotrexate. That really scares the hell out of me and my husband has made it very clear that he does not want me on it. So, Im trying to look into other options.

I am just so tired of feeling like crap all the time. Everything hurts, Im nauseated off & on throughout everyday & have no energy at all. Everything I do just requires so much effort. Sorry for the "whining", Ive been so down emotionally lately and I know this is a safe place to whine.

Flutter, I am so glad you posted! Sad you are having a tough time, but you are right to investigate options. My personal experience is that anything in a natural versus lab form is more helpful to me, but we all are different.

Here in Carolina it is not legal, so I am not well informed about laws, or personal use stories. I hope someone else comes along soon or sends you a private message to help with that.

You are so not whining! But even if you need to, you are right, this is the place to be understood and supported. Pain and constant physical challenges take a toll on our bodies, minds, and spirits. Reaching out and seeking help is a very positive step on your part.

I hope the info you need comes to you soon.

loving warm hugs,

Louise

Flutter,

Oh, how I can relate to how your feeling! I don't have any information regarding your question, but I am in the same position as you are. Doctor took me off Plaquenil and wants to maybe start MTX. I am also scared to do this. The side effects of all these meds are bad. I'm not sure what's worse on the body, the disease or the meds we must take to control the disease. I am having all the things you speak of, nausea, no energy, and just plain feel like crap. It does get old fast!! I am almost afraid to wake up, just because I wonder what pain the day will bring. I do agree with ohsoperplexed about investigating the other options you have for treatment. I want to talk with my doc about whether acupuncture and such things would be helpful to me. Kind of afraid to just go do it because I never know how my body will react.

I hope you start to feel better soon, physically and emotionally. We are all here for ya.

I am not saying I do or do not partake in herbal remedies since it is not legal in FL. ;-) Bbbuuuttt.... I have 'heard' that it really helps downplay the symptoms. Well, except the exhaustion and hunger... it may increase that slightly. hehehe. :) If it's night time, nap time, or you know you don't have anything too major, I'd say go for it.

I am still taking MTX (7.5mg once a week) and Prednisone (30mg daily) though, and just may or may not use herbs to take the edge off. I hope to be off the meds one day, but even though they suck, I trust that they will eventually help me. Or if they don't, it's not like I am going to get any better by just sitting here without trying them.... so I think they're worth a shot to try and get your life back, and using the herbs is like a medicine for the medicine side effects, IMO.

Good luck! Hope things begin getting better for you too. :)

Funny you ask that I was just reading an artical about a doctor here in New Jersey that is helping people with chronic pain by prescribing medical marijuana!! If you can go on nj.com and look for the artical might help you!! After I see my Rheumy on November 18th I might be giving his office a call. Wouldn’t hurt!!!

I moved to California 6 months ago. Medical marijuana is legal here with a medical marijuana card. I think it depends on your symptoms and the strain of marijuana used . There are stains with less THC and more of the CBD that is good for pain and inflammation. There are many other forms than smoking. Ie: edible, cookies and such, vaporized, so there is no smoke…even liquid. Like any treatment it’s an individual decision.

I use from time to time.............Works great! :)
