My doctor has referred me to a rehumotogist. She did a systemic lupus profil A. the results were rnp 1.9 and the ssb 1.6. Her nurse said that i was being referred because of lupus. I am have been on Plaqunil for 6 months. Does this mean I have Lupus? I have had sjogrens and mctd for 3 years.
A lot of auto dz over lap. I an sure the rheumatologist will be able to answer your questions. Keep us posted.
Yes this is one of our LUPUS Meds- Hydroxychloroquine which is Plaqunil which relieves pain and swelling and prevents some damage to the joints. Plaqunil works slowly. Doctors call this drug DMARDS which stands for Disease Modifing Anti-Rheumatic Drugs
Lupus has no specific diagnostic test. Autoimmune diseases are hard to diagnose because of similarities and overlapping signs and symptoms. Plaquenil is also used to treat other diseases, so it is not definitive either. It can help narrow down possibilities, if the patient responds well to it. Basically, if it’s not autoimmune then it won’t help at all. However… not improving on it doesn’t mean SLE isn’t possible either. For some people the med just doesn’t work. Just like some patients are seronegative. Their labworklab work never indicates anything is wrong.
