Knowing if what you feeling is from lpus, meds or just something altogether differe

Only started taking prednisone about 3 wks ago and just started methodextrite, so took only one day so far. Swelling gone, leg pain gone but increased pain in one ankle and one wrist. That doesn't surprise me, the stomach issues, bloated feeling and indigestion and also my sinuses are bothering me. Could that be from any of the meds, so soon after starting or is it unrelated? I guess I should start a little journal or something and take notes so when I go back for my dr visits I remember all my guestions and concerns.

A journal is an excellent idea! The sinuses could be from allergies, the allergy season has begun, and I started noticing symptoms last week. The weather greatly influences my symptoms, I knew the snow storm we got hit with on Wednesday was coming. Ft Wayne even made it on the national news. I just believe everything stems from my Lupus first. The stomach issues could possibly be from the meds, your pharmacist is a good resource for this advice.

The weather greatly effects my symptoms as well. I noticed that my mood, or stress level, will directly impact my symptoms. But there is another factor we should be considering. Not only does our medication and food effect us, but our mental outlook. I was talking with a friend who is a fellow Lupie about how we often can "psych ourselves out." For instance, if we discuss with a friend about our nausea, we may find that we become more nauseated. Why is this? One idea is that we are then focused, even subconsciously on it, causing an adverse effect. You may think "no, not me. I'm not like that." Yet, if we are humble, we may find this to be true, even on a very small scale.

I found, too, that switching from GMO food to Organic foods, plus taking a large amount of fluoride blocking agents, I improved my over all health and mental clarity. For those of you whom may not know, fluoride is more toxic than Lead and was originally put in the water by Hitler so as to control the population. In the US (This practice is actually banned in most countries because studies have shown the ill effects) they place it in our water directly, on purpose. I will leave it to you to decide why. What I know from the studies done is that this is actually lowering our IQ levels. Also, it causes more mental confusion. So our issues with mental clarity are made Worse by what is in our water. No wonder we have so much trouble. Just by switching up a few things, I can think a little more clear. I eat a lot of cilantro, which pulls the fluoride from your body. I also take a Kelp Iodine supplement. Too much iodine is bad for you. Most of us are deficient. I also take Melatonine before I sleep. I don't want to take sleeping pills or other drugs if the real issue is that we don't produce melatonine naturally to the amount we need to have natural sleep due to the failure of having enough nutrients in our foods. Guys, this is what it boils down to; you are what you eat. If our food is sick or lacking nutrition, then so are we. We have Lupus. Lupus does not have us. Lets fight with all we have!

The stomach issues could be from the meds but I’d definitely recommend keeping a journal. It helps a great deal (especially with the lupus fog). Be very careful if you use nasal sprays for your sinuses. I used one and ended up getting really sick. Your pharmacist and doctor are your best resources. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions or voice your concerns. Lupus is such a complex disease. It takes some getting used too.

Thanks Brittany! I never touch nose spray, had a very bad situation yrs ago but I have always been suseptible to sinus infections. For some reason they start to bother me a few hrs after taking the meds, and sometimes have nosebleeds as well. I guess I will just add to my list for my next appt.

I use nasal saline spray before any travel on planes. But I use to get sinus infections all the time and started using a Netipot the first sign of one and about 9 times out of 10 it will prevent and stop a full blown one. I refuse antibiotics at this point and will use home remedies instead.

Hi!, that is good to note everything to ask the doctor. Taking notes and how you felt at that time help a lot. i have been on the prednoise for 3 years and it does wonders for me . Hope that the meds work for you ,,,Beverly L.

I had to go gluten free and stop eating all night shade foods and herbs. There are links to sites for anti-inflamatory foods that you may want to try.
