I found it while researching the relationship between EBV (Epstein Barr Virus) and lupus.Didn't know that most lupus patients have had EBV and how this relationship works.
I have a friend that says she has EBV, but not mono (?). Did you have mono when they diagnosed the virus? I'm confused/don't know if they go hand-in hand. I know that EBV causes mono. But, can you have EBV without mono symptoms. Read that EBV stays with you, but goes dormant and can exacerbate.
When I was a kid I had frequent sore throats and serious fevers. They said it was "strep," but no one did cultures of every suspect tissue or scraping in those days. Who really knows what caused it. It did subside after a tonsillectomy--still not proof it was strep. I was also told when I was diagnosed with SLE in 2003 that I probably had it since childhood. Felt sick often when I was a child and a young woman.
Would like to know your thoughts.

I had it twice....and recently heard of the relationship.
I had strep throats all the time as a child and asthma often. I was also treated with radiation as a baby, a common practice in the 40', 50's and 60's. Seemed like I was sick a lot of the time and I never had much energy my whole life. In my 20's I contracted Hepatitis B, I was very ill for a long time. I always had mystery illnesses that they could never figure out!
Never did have my tonsils out as they decided it was better to keep them in the early 50's!! I feel like I have been a lab rat since I was born! I think I have had lupus most of my life, but it wasn't diagnosed back in the day.
It could just be that we have had too many viral infections and out immune system is stuck in overdrive! Autoimmune diseases overlap so much that we could have EBV and not be diagnosed!
My darling daughter, Emily , came down with Mono on the first day of kindergarten. I was aghast. My precious little angel missing the first part of kindergarten because of mono. I didn’t get sick, nor have I ever had mono to my knowledgeable. I suppose that I’m one of those who had " silent " mono. ; ) Martha
