So everytime I get an insect bite it goes infected but normally an antihistamine and some cream helps it but today I had the joy of being bitten by something. .dont know what, and it went infected and my calf swelled up twice the size....doctors was closed for training- typical!! So thank you to the lovely pharmacist who called nhs 24 and got me antibiotics proscribed :)

When i read your post, I had to respond.... I was recently stung (attacked) by a yellow jacket. I have been stung before with no real allergic reaction. This time - oh my. It got infected and swelled up to three times normal size. It was crazy. I had a fever. I was curious about the reaction since i have never had a reaction that bad before. My thought was that since our bodies are constantly attacking themselves, would the sting cause that massive of an over-reaction? Who knows....Just curious. Thanks,
I have had this problem since I was a kid…eaten alive by bugs (Mosquitos and gnats and biting flies) No type of bug spray or Skin so Soft or anything else has any effect. And the sores can last for months to years!
Gee, I hear you! It doesn’t matter how many people are in the area, I am the one who will be bitten. I don’t have a clue whether lupus would make your bug bites worse. However, I do know that frequently when one has an allergy to a bite, or even a food, there will be no overt reaction the first time or two you are exposed. It’s a big surprise to people when they have a massive reaction after being exposed several times. The more times you are exposed to the allergen, the more likely it is that you will have a very obvious reaction. My husband had this happen to him with strawberries.
I SEEM TO BE A BIG BUG MAGNET TOO. I ALSO PRETTY MUCH ALWAYS GET INFECTED FROM BUG BITES THAT OTHERS DON'T. I AM GOING TO THE DR. THIS WEEK FOR INFECTED BITES THAT I THINK ARE CHIGGERS. I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY AND CHIGGERS AND TICKS ARE ALWAYS A PROBLEM. I AM ALSO ALLERGIC TO YELLOW JACKET AND WASP STINGS....AND THE REACTIONS ALWAYS VARY FROM BAD TO SEVERE...AND I SUSPECT THAT HAS TO DO WITH WHAT LEVEL A FLARE IS AT THE TIME. LOL. I BOUGHT SUN PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND A HAT...SO I COULD BE OUTSIDE MORE SAFELY ON SUNNY DAYS. DIDN'T THINK ABOUT NOT BEING SAFE FROM THE BUGS REGARDLESS THOUGH. IT'S ALWAYS SOMETHING!
