Can anyone tell me if they’ve experienced any side effects or your feelings on these meds?
I’ve been using Imuran for about six months. I haven’t had any major issues with it. In the beginning I would experience bouts of dizziness but after about the third day in taking it, it went away.
Is imuranazathioprine to take the place of plaquenil? Or is it for kidney damage?
I ran fevers with imuran and had to stop taking it.
Imuran didn't work for me....I got infections and had to stop taking it.

Have been on Imuran for about 2 yrs now. Most of that time on 200mg per day. I take it at night as I was advised I'd likely sleep through any 'tummy' upsets it may cause. Not aware of any side effects (for me). Am in remission this past month & symptoms I'd previously allocated to Imuran (quite severe back spasms) have ceased. So it would seem they were caused by Lupus as my meds have not changed. Best Wishes to you. Kaz xo
I was on imuran for a while but it made my white blood cells too low so the doctor took me off so now I'm on planquenil (sp)? and prednisone. While I was on it I didn't experience and side effects. Good luck to you!

Ive been taking Imuran for almost a year. I take 100mg per day. 50 in the morning and 50 at night. Im much more faithful to my morning dose of meds because it includes my prednisone and over the years Ive learned not to miss it. My night meds Im more prone to miss because I might fall asleep before its time to take them. It seemed in the beginning that I could tell if I missed the Imuran at night because the next day I would be extremely fatgued and just overall blah. That has gotten a little better because now if I miss two doses in a week is when I feel bad, the same feeling of awful fatigue and just yukky all over. I would always try to put something on my stomach before taking my meds and didnt like doing that at night. But now I can take it on a empty stomach and go on to bed. So as long as I take it like Im suppose to it doesnt bother me.
I take prednisone, plasmaquane and Imuran. I've been on this for the last 2 years and is doing very good. My physician explained that the Imuran is for preventing Lupus not to attack you major organs. The plasmaquane is a anti malaria drug which helps to surpress the auto immune system.
Hi everyone, Thanks for the postings about imuran, as a result, I was eager to discuss this option with my doctor, for me. Especially, when a posting stated the medication could protect the organs. I am always worried about the internal damage caused by my flares, as recently, I have had longer flares lasting 4-6 days. I am making an appointment with my doctor to discuss the lengths of my flares.
I found this website about Imuran that I want to share for research purpose. I am not suggesting anyone take it or not, just adding information to this discussion about imuran.
