I knew it was going to happened,God prepared me

I went to work today and they had been terminating and laying off people today due to reconstruction of the business, I was laid off after 11 years, Despite how so many mornings of preparing myself for work with this disease among pulminary hypertension and epilepsy I still enjoyed the idea of having my own money and clocking in everyday and being among my peers. With health insurance so exspensive and the need for me to see specialist on end it is scarey and the cost for my meds.Luckily my last visit to alll my specialist was the last week in november and all my labs were good.I wonder should I apply for ssi dhould the government now reconizes our disease as a critical illness? I did receive a severence package and they are going to pay me 8 weeks pay while I look for a job or apply for another posotion with the company, I have until the 28th of march to find something to keep my same rate of pay,my disease limits my mobility and my job was a phone operator. for 3years and the rest I worked, personel, merchandising, cashiering and marketing .total 11in half years. This was corporate wide ,I know some are worst than me because after the severence package iA still can apply for unemployment for 28 weeks if need be ,I am so use to working and have worked for 34 years of my life and have always provided for me and my mother.

It sucks to have to go through some unexpected changes, but personally I try to look at it as a sign. Maybe it's time for a new career path. Or maybe you had grown all you could with that company so God knows it's time for you to move on. I don't believe we are meant to stay in one place for too long, God wants us to learn and grow and maybe this was His way of letting you know it's your time. Of course it can be hard because that is what you are use to doing, but there is more for you and now is the time to each for it! Spread your wings! Remember you can make plans for this or that, but if it's not God's plan for you, it will not work out.Just do your best to trust in Him and know that no matter what happens He knows what is best for you. Keep your head up, I know it will all work out, it always does! Peace, Love & Happiness to you! -Alisha AE

If you aren't able to find work that is compatible with your abilities you can try the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. They work with companies to find people with disabilities work and initially subsidize your pay. They will help fund training and equipment for you to work. I know some people who are home bound and were able to get computers and phone systems to work in telephone sales and customer service.

Also, if you are thinking of applying for disability I would contact your local Aging and Disability Resource Center, they have case workers that can help you apply.

Also, please, read about the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care), There are programs where you don't have to worry about paying the bills especially if you're on unemployment or experiencing economic hardship).

No United States citizen has to go without medical care. No one! This includes disability.

You have to hold on.

Hi lia

I'm sorry you are going through this, never an easy time. When I lost my job, I knew it was coming - but when it actually happens it hit you hard. But you will get through this, and explore all your options. I applied for SSDI and I also went through Vocational Rehab, and I am working again. Sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees -
