How many pills do you take a day?

Don’t you just love this question! I try to fill my pill container when my husband is not around so I don’t have to hear his mouth. Last night my friend was over as I was filling my morning container and she asked me the same question. She asked with concern though. My husband asks like " jeez, you take too many pills…you gotta get off some of that sh*t"!
Does he or anyone really think that I enjoy ingesting all these chemicals every day for my liver to work overtime to filter through. Like I want to play Russian roulette and say “hey let’s see if the chloroquine really DOES affect my eyes”. Let’s see how round my face can get on the prednisone before it explodes!
All jokes aside I take about 10 pills a day not including any random Advil or the antibiotic I’m currently on for this upper respiratory thing I’ve got going on. I was just wondering if there are any other double digit pill poppers out there too.

17 is mine and that is types of pills not how many as some are doubled. I have tried to get rid of some and got into trouble so tell them to back off!! LOL

Hi

Let's see--- 3 plaquenil, thyroid, 3 calcium, omeprazole, coumadin, simvastatin. that's 10 , as you say whichever antibiotic you are on at that time. As long as they keep me going I guess its OK Have a good day

Cindy

I was wondering the same. I take 13. Glad I’m not the only one in the double digits lol

27 + 3 sr acetomenephen (sp?) + 6 nebulizer doses + two inhalers 4 & 2 times a day. Close to 40 pills and/or doses of meds.
Doesn't even count the frequent antibiotics for lung infections.

My blood is so nasty fleas and mosquitoes don't bite me anymore. Pre-autoimmune if there was a mosquito within 100 miles I'd get bit and was allergic too. No worries now. Plus the fleas think I'm on Advantix..

You have to hold on.

Omg usagurl…that’s too funny about the fleas and mosquitoes…we gotta laugh right?

Hi

I should get some more pills to catch up HAHA!! How do you keep track of so many? I have trouble keeping track of the ones i take.

Cindy

Pill organizers....notice that is plural! And I had to laugh at the mosquitoes and flea remark too!

I was trying to remember them all the other day, I am being considered for a clinical drug trial. I know it is around 15. I am always telling people that this is the docs and I trying to keep them at a minimum! “Healthy” people don’t really get it.
And yes, you gotta laugh or we will all lose it!!

Oh yes. ALL the time I hear that from my husband!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just look at him and ask him ok which ones should I quit taking????? He does not answer. No one understand, yes I to have tried to stop and had to start back.It helps to know we are all in the same boat. Thank you for sharing.

2 prednisolone tablets, 1 plaquenil, and depending on how sick i feel up to 4 anti sickness and countless numbers of rennie :) :)

I take nine different medications and four of them are three times a day, some twice, etc. my husband makes the same type of comments to me and acts like I can just throw them away and be fine. I tell him to just stop talking about and bugging me because I can’t change things like that. I don’t know why he says stuff like that and makes such am issue about it. Oh well, just one more thing to deal with- as if I didn’t have enough crap to deal with!

13 a day for the past 10 years or so- keeps me going!

9 a day for me.

18 for me too. I have two that are critical and could cause hospitalization if missed. I hate it too, but fortunately my husnand is wonderful. about helping me fill the monthly box. What concerns me is that we are traveling abroad and everything I read says pills need to be in original containers. Even if I get the smaller size bottles it will take half a suitcase. I purchased a sorter envelope and thought I’d just take copies of the script from the pharmacy but now i don’t know. I planned to take all controlled substances in original containers. Nay suggestions?

9 for me not counting my pain pills. Haha my boyfriend says the same line to me every time he see’s my pill container. I love all my pills! Jk

I have one more dose of trial dosage in the Illuminate study. In two weeks I have the option of doing the rollover study and getting the “real” drug. We are pretty sure I’m getting plaqebo or half dose at best. In the rollover I will be able to have the real drug. It has proven efficacy and safety, now they are trying to determine whether 1 4mg dose or 2 2mg doses a month work best. I can’t wait. I take Effexor Ex, synthroid, HRT, Plaquenil, muscle relaxers (might get off of these), hydrocortisone (for Addison\s Disease) xanax, Lyrica, Ambien, and Hydrocodone PRN, Valcyclovor for mouth sores PRN, inhalers and nebulizers PRN. It really looks bad in print. I use the MedCenter system to organize and a reminder on my cellphone that goes with it… The system has an alarm too. I always try to keep a morning dose in my purse because my mind doesn’t work like it used to! I have to have reminders for everything and my work recall is horrible.

I take at least 50 pills a day.... no offense, but you're pretty wimpy when it comes to pill-taking hon! :)

My sister always makes the comment that I am over-medicated. That my meds are the reason why I am sick. Does she not understand that if I was not taking these meds I would be sicker and that when nobody believed me I was sick for so long it caused all this organ damage including brain damage? I take so many meds and more are added all the time, without talking about the random antibiotic, rash creams like tar treatments!, pain killers, inhalers, eye drops, psoriasis stuff and the chemo/infusions every 6 months. I have two huge baskets in my room filled with medications. I have to have a larger purse to fit my meds. Recently I have only been taking my meds at night so double dosing all at once, I know that is probably not good. But it is so much easier. I will go back to twice a day, but I liked the freedom. I take Metformin, Aldactone, Plaquinil, Prednisone, Protonix, Xopenex, Vitamin D, Neurontin, Zanaflex, Topamax and I am about to start Cellcept. Yum! Prednisone especially! yummy!
