How many of you have tried "alternatives" to doctors/rheumatologists for care?

Have any of you tried IV Therapy or vitamins, herbs, supplements? It just seems like maybe there is something to it. Maybe I am just feeling desperate. Anyways, I made an appt today to see one of those doctors. I go July 30. How much worse can taking something natural be than accepting synthetic drugs?

Hi Cassie,

I can't help much on this discussion only to say i've took vitamins in the past and they made me bowls go stubborn so i had to stop taking them. xxx

Cassie,

I have sought out alternatives. I happy to report that the IV nutritional therapy I get from a Naturopath Doctor has helped to ease many of my fibro related pains... My western docs roll there eyes but it has made a difference for me.

You might want to give it a try - it isn't cheap at around a $120 per treatment where I live.

I actually started going to an herbal medicine woman almost three years ago, to help with some of my lupus-y symptoms. I had no bad reaction to them, although some symptoms they didn't touch, and some they helped. For instance, I have a lot of swelling in my feet/ankles/knees, and they definitely made an impact on that. Some of my skin rashes also started to fade. I haven't been on herbs for a while now, but they did seem to help me.

Hope it goes well!

I'll be interested in hearing how the natural approach works for you. If you will be taking ANY synthetic medications at the same time, it is VERY important you have someone who understands the interaction between a particular homeopathic medication and the synthetic medication you're taking. This is from someone who used natural autoimmune boosters along with synthetic meds after being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 15 yrs ago. It wasn't pretty.

Please be careful. I won't even take a vitamin now unless I run it by my doctor.

I agree with Kadeeeee, I don't take anything without talking to my doctors first. I am taking Boswellia, it's a herb supplement for inflammation. It seems to be helping with the swelling in my hands and fingers.. But I didn't start taking anything without seeking professional opinion. Please be careful no matter which way you go.

Hugs,

Bethany

I am currently trying alternatives, I use Xango through my Acupuncturist David Trybus 417-■■■■■■■■ he would be able to help you in your area to find it, it helps with inflammation, and it helps with my kidney pain, I also do Acupunture, and I have been using a product called Nixall for my face rash and inflammation, pain I buy this from and independent rep her name is Jill, 712-■■■■■■■■ I am trying to find alternatives to the meds because the meds are so hard on my kidneys, I have 5 kids and I cant be on all the pain medication that they prescribe and do what I have to do during the day. Might be worth the try, Im having good results, also I keep up on my minerals, I am looking into an infusion cocktail of minerals to help. Good luck

I agree I have Lupus, Fibro and Lymes Combined the reactions include really bad days and even worse nights but Ive found that taking all of the medicine is too much for me. with all my kids I can not stay as medicated as they seem to want me to be and get anything done. I dont know if you suffer from the Lupus rash on your face but Ive been thrilled with the results of Nixall Dr Norm Sheely created it and it has erased the painful raw red rash I have carried since I was 26 years old, sometimes its about the illuision of feeling good lol
