I am 35 yrs old, have lupus, and the heat is not my friend. The other day at work the a/c went out. It was not that hot but hot enough for me to start itching and stressing out over it. I then got really aggitated, and was having chest pain. Probably anxiety. But I left my meds at home. My question is; Is there anything to relieve my itching when it is hot? I have Atarax, but that makes me too sleepy to work or do anything. Does anyone have any suggestions on lotions to use? Or any advice what soever?
Ice is the best thing I’ve used so far…I’ve tried even “for sensitive skin” lotions that I used to be able to use and now all they do is make me itch and burn worse. If you find a good lotion that soothes, please share that info. I pray you find some relief!
Well i use a mixture of Dovate Cream and epimax, that stopped my itching immediatley , ive been on it for two years and haven't had a itching problem since..
I have no suggestions for the itchiness or even chest pain & anxiety from your heat related issues. BUT, I TOO HATE the HEAT! Give me the cool weather anyday, in the heat, when I begin to overheat, my body reacts badly too! I have noticed it is worse the older I am getting, I too am 35, ironically, I even said one day that I felt like a woman beginnig menopause & hot flashes, even though I know I am Too young for that, and so are you, but it feels like it? Right? I too get itchy, all over like pins and needles itchy.... It is so ANNOYING! I take benadryl when I itch bad, but I find that makes my heart race too, and since my sllergy to bees/wasps, I have a bit of a sensitivity to Benadryl too now, which is JUST GR8! Anyways, I totally get what u are saying, it happens to me, even if I am home & doing house work, or sometimes even if I am sleeping at night & get too warm, I feel bad & cannot sleep! ASk ur doc, there has to be something that won't affect ur alertness, that could help u when it happens....Let me know, and hope u feel better!! :0) Suzie
Oh & Sarah is right, Ice does help, but unfortunatley we cannot always sit with ice all over ourselves, lol...especially @ work....People might stare, lol......but yes, it helps numb the skin, thus, relieving the itch! Suzie :0)
Heeeee! So very true!
I use a spray benedryl for small areas. I did find taking an allergy pill everyday helped like zyertec.
Like that one right, Sarah?? LOL....;) Although who really cares, when ya get to a certain point, it's like, if u don't like what u see, then DON'T LOOK!! hahaha......BUT being itchy is the WORST!!!! UGH! But ice is the BEST remedy!!

Thank you all for your reply's. I love the heat or should say I used to. I hate being cold, but am starting to like the cool weather better. Of course I live in the desert where in the summer it gets up to around 110 to 120. So I may need to look into moving to somewhere cooler. Its weird, I go to the gym, and when I workout and get hot, Im okay. MAybe because Im sweating... and it cools me off quicker, I dont know. You all are wonderful.... <3
Petrollum jelly... The derm had me put it on six times a day from me neck to my toes! It is sticky and now I use it anytime my skin gets really acting up it helps. I really have found nothing else that works except for oatmeal baths at night.
I was thinking that I would try an oatmeal bath next. Ummm I do not think I am that desperate yet to lather myself with petrollium jelly.

Agreed Tray, Uh, the thought of that feeling is weird.....and awfully greasy, LOL....Although I am sure it DOES work cuz it is a really good skin protectant.....Oatmeall Bath (Aveeno) is also a Gr8 idea cause that is what I remember using for the Chicken Pox when I was little for the Itch! Let me know if it works!!! Also Gold Bond lotion used daily might help too.....it is an orangey/goldish bottle, push pump, and cools the skin well......Suzie :0)
