It ssems uncommon but there is noone in my family line to ever have an autoimmune disease. I think thats one of the reasons I had no clue whar was wrong with me for a long time. I have 3 daughters who are very concerned about it being passed to them.
My maternal aunt died of Lupus (SLE) at 59.....actually "Kidney failure caused by Lupus." My only sibling, my sister, died of Ovarian Cancer three years ago. Ann A's physician friend "nailed" it---"Autoimmune diseases just like to hang out with each other." The Lupancatwoman is down to one cat after losing her beloved Murphy last Saturday; he had renal failure and I had to put him down. A tsunami of tears at this house....in bed pretty much for two days. Guess I must have one cat to remain the Lupancatwoman.
Myself and two cousins have Lupus, we lost one of my cousins two years ago due to her Lupus. My sister past with Breast Cancer, my Brother past with Stomach Cancer and I have crohns disease and Graves disease.
I'm sorry for the loss of your fur baby....

I have autoimmune disease on both sides of my family. My mother had lupus, her sister had symptoms but not diagnosed. Their mother had symptoms - all were diabetics. My fathers side, I had a great aunt with RA and her daughter also has RA and was tested for lupus. I also have a great niece with CF and possible celiac disease. One of my uncles died suddenly of pneumonia - he was only 22 or so - we believe he may have had CF.
I have SLE, Raynauds, Celiacs, RA, and Sjorgens. I would definitely say Autoimmune Diseases love to hang out together.
One maternal aunt had lupus with vasculitis. One paternal first cousin had MS. As far as I know, those are the only cases in a very large family.
Both me and my sister have Lupus and psoriasis I have Addison’s and probly eother thinks I think 2 of me aunts have it but will not say I loss 1 child at 11 months because her blood surplus to the bowel was cut off and my son has low I.q and austum
I have no family history of autoimmune diseases. My mom has 7 siblings and my dad 5. I have 2 younger brothers. Every time I see a new doctor they ask.
