Thanks so much for sharing this interesting read with us !! I never understood how I was suspected of then diagnosed with SLE so quickly when unfortunately its taken what seems like forever for so many of our friends here to get any answers much less a firm diagnosis. After reading the section "Future Direction" detailing the newest criteria for SLE I see that that I have everything listed as well as loooooots of symptoms lol.. it really does take a lot more than a positive ANA , joint pain or a questionable rash to be properly diagnosed. This book is helping me to understand from a doctor's point of view why they so often diagnosis us as having "a lupus like " or mixed /undifferentiated connective tissue diseases. They have these guidelines given to them to insure us that we are not misdiagnosed or incorrectly medicated not to mention there are many other conditions that mimic lupus " symptoms" . I did find it bizarre how much criteria has changed , added and detracted over the years, can't they make up their minds lol :)
