As lupus was not enough, I get the flu. Guys, my temp has been going up and down between 101.2 to 105. I have been stuck in bed since Friday. The doctor said to just wait it out. There has to be something!

Oh, I've heard this flu is a nasty one. Sorry you're sick, and I hope you start to improve soon.
There is a medication they can give for the flu, but the medication has to be started within the first 48 hours for it to do anything.
Are you taking anything to bring your fever down (ibuprofen or Tylenol)? Also push fluids to stay hydrated and rest. I assume your doc told you all of that, though.
Feel better. :(
If fever still spiking that high after 6 days, it may be about to break but make sure you aren’t getting secondary infection / pneumonia. Need dr to rule that out. Hopefully fever starting to break n u r ok
I hope u get better, fluids n rest. I have found that fighting any cold, stomach virus etc that with my lupus it takes Longer to heal than others don’t fret, take care n if fever doesn’t go down go back to dr!
Just got off the phone with my nurse, have had the flu symptoms for seven days despite having the immunization in October as I always do. They have called in a script for antiobiotic pack even tho I hesitate to take too many of them. The flu is too reeks havoc and a secondary infection is too dangerous for those of us with lupus. Don’t let this go any longer without getting checked out and treated, especially with that high a fever. Please take care and I hope you feel better. I know this past week I have felt just more miserable than usual, normally would not think that’s possible lol, good news is it does get better. My son also had the flu, was out of school six days and has a little bit more empathy on body pain…
Oh if the general public could only understand and remember, right :-). Peace and Love to you, ~ Maré
Hi, hope that you get well soon !!! Before christmas i had it and it was not nice . My entire body ached so bad , my son went and got me some alka-seltzer plus cold and orange juice -that helped with alot of rest . Hope you feel better soon.....Beverly L.
Mindy Wolff,
If your temp is that high you should get to the Dr. 105 for an adult is really high and can cause brain damage and may also be a symptom of something such as meningitis...not trying to scare you, but you have a suppressed immune system (in other you don't have the ability that others have to fight diseases like the flu). Please get to the ER ASAP.
Prayers for you, honey,
DeAnne XOXO
I have had a fever of 105 and went to doc and he yelled at me for driving and sent me straight to e.r.
My white count was off the chart and I needed i.v. Antibiotics and then a 30 day script for antibiotics. I agree with everyone else…dont let it go too long!!! Best of luck. Get well soon!!!
Mindy,
I surely hope you have gotten some help by now. I am so sorry you are sick. Last Sat, I came down with something and got some wonderful help from my pharmacist who understands my condition.
The hospitals and doctors' offices are filled with sick people, but you need help. Do you have an insurance nurse you can talk to? I hope you are not alone with that high fever. You can not afford to wait it out. We have friends in the hospital...one on a respirator. So please seek some help...urgent care...ER or someone. We are concerned about you. Praying for you. Faye
I have been in and out of bed for 2 weeks. Got admitted to the hospital with bronchospasms and got swabbed and sure enough it was Influenza A. Good thing... got discharged and am able to be in a comfortable bed with my big tv instead of the hospital. My whole body feels as if a truck backed into it. I am having alot of chest pain especially when I breathe. They did give me a five day course of Tamiflu. They say it lessens the symptoms.
I think you should go to a doctor soon if you don't feel much better. That fever is nothing to mess with. take care of you.
Mimi
Glad you ate home Mimi, take care of yourself!
Mindy, please update us on your condition and fever. . . You are in our prayers and I hope you’ve been seen by someone medically speaking…~Maré
I hope everyone else is staying Clear of crowds as best you can and taking good precautions and care not to catch the flu… Peace and love to all…
Hello Mindy,
So sorry to hear your down with it also...i had mine start the end of september 2012 as members know had it off my hubby and since then it's progressed, stuck me in hospital with pleurisy once again, came out my cough got worse bronchitis ontop, 2 lots of antibitoic's which did nothing, sent for an x-ray a month back on my lungs...there's something showing because come thursday the doctor wants to chat through the x-ray with me, then up for another.
Please don't let this issue keep progressing as colds with us can drag we as low as we can go...i do know this is aging me badly besides sleeping.
My thoughts are with you on picking up quicker than myself.
All my love & prayers Terri xxx
