Flare ups

Hey everyone as some of you know I have been in flare for almost a year now. ( sneaky devious cantankerous downright aggravating disease) anyway I was using chiropractics to help with my circulation but its no longer covered by my insurance. However acupuncture is. Has anyone used or is using acupuncture for pain, circulation, etc? What were the results. Is the juice worth the squeeze??

I have been going to an acupuncturist for 2 years now - before that when I didn't know I had Lupus I was going to the chiropractor constantly searching for relief and it didn't help! I can tell you that without a doubt acupuncture is amazing! I am convinced that it's because of the acupuncture that I'm doing as well as I am! I also get a massage either before or after the acup. and that is amazing as well! They both know my complete history and know exactly how to treat me. Basically I'm on the table for 2 hours every 2 weeks! If you were in New Mexico I'd highly recommend my doc to you! I also take some Chinese herbs that he has me taking.

I used acupunture for pain in my neck and shoulders a few years ago. It didn't help right away, but over the course of a few weeks it did help. I no longer have insurance. That is the only reason I stopped going.

ask your doctor if there is any sort of sliding fee or cash option. If they truly care about their patients they'll work with you. I was laid off in May and all summer long my doctor charged me a $40 cash copay. Now that I'm working again my insurance does not cover it but he said he will still only charge me $40/visit because he knows the treatments help.

Hi Julie, currently I am having some Physiotherapy session on my knee (very swollen & catching across patella & 'failing'). She uses Ultrasound & Acupuncture. It appears to be a rather effective treatment (for me).

So If you are able to pay for that style of treatment at the moment I'd say give it a try. I'm a new Dx; but wow you guys that have been managing Lupus for years & years must become adept at tailoring treatment to budgets & adpating various treatments to your constantily evolving needs.

Good luck for the week head Julie. Kind Regards Kaz

Thank You Kaz, I think I will try the acupuncture nothing ventured nothing gained.

Oh Lisa I am sorry to hear that. I will say a prayer for you. Hugs XXOO

Hello Julie,

So sorry to hear about your chronic flare and just after 6mths of it you should have been treated with higher meds or kept a regular eye on alot.

Regarding accupunture never add it, so i can't help sorry but i do hope you get the answers you need from members.

Hello Julie,

I thought this link about accupunture and Lupus may also help besides members giving advice.
