Hi...I have had stomach ache (sometimes severe) since yesterday. I used a fleet enema to make sure it just wasn't being constipated from all the meds I take. When I eat even toast I get a stomach ache primarily on left side of lower abdomen. I have diverticulosis so I am wondering if now I have diverticulitis. I am not sure if stomach problems can be a part of having lupus.....I have fibromyalgia and I do have IBS, but this is different from my IBS. I thought I had a bladder infection earlier in week and went to doctor but I didn't and the symptoms I was experiencing with it are gone. Now I have this. I still have my ovaries but everything else is gone. I had a hysterectomy when I was 46 but they left ovaries. I have a dr appt at my PCP office, but not seeing my primary doctor but her associate. It is better than going to ER!
Would appreciate any comments on if this is something that is part of lupus or totally unrelated.
Hi, I too have stomach related issues, fibro and IBS. Sometimes the pain is really bad. Actually that’s how I was finally diagnosed with Lupus because I ended up in the ER with stomach pain and fever that wouldn’t go away (3 days) I also had nausea, diarrhea and a wicked headache with excessive sweating and chills. I was going thru this about twice a month. Now I take my meds as prescribed and thank heavens I haven’t had it in a while. I hope and pray your pain subsides just as fast as it came on.
I am currently dealing with something similar. I have been off work for over a week due to my stomach/gut. They are not sure what is going on. Looks like I am headed for a ct of the abdomen and a gastroscope. Hang in there.
Stomach cramping was one of the first symptoms for me, they are very strong and different from regular pain. They come and go like contractions for a period of a few hours mostly at night. They are very painfull. I wonder if this is dilat , by one I know what food triggers them
Hi, you are definitely not alone in your abdominal pain. I have been dealing with right side, lower and upper pain since mid February and they still have not determined the cause. I too have Fibro and IBS and this is def different than the IBS. I recently found out that I have some motility issues of the intestines and now I am having an ultrasound next week and possibly a HIDA scan to check the gallbladder. My flares seem to always start with abdominal issues and fever. Hoping the plaquenil soon kicks in have been on it almost 6 weeks now. You will be in my prayers. Hope you get some answers and relieve. Hugs and blessings,
Sorry you’re suffering, i know abdominal pain is no fun:( I personally wouldn’t wasn’t the time or money at the ER unless you have a fever or blood coming up or out of the other end and fortunately you’re going to be seen by a P.A. soon , sometimes they’re more intuitive than the doctor! good news is most of your major abdominal organs are on the right side , kidneys aside, so that’s a positive:) your colon is on the left though so maybe its inflamed or irritated?? I had to do a fleet cleanse once years ago for a colonoscopy and it was rough! I was hurting for days… maybe it hurt more than helped… I have severe constipation due to my intestines not working anymore and my pain meds so I was only going a few times a month, it was awful:/…my primary started me on a new med called"Linzess" , it’s awesome! Im on the highest dose but there’s little to no pain , cramping or suffering you’ll have to stay close to a bathroom for a couple of hours but it’s a good alternative to other methods. Good luck and feel better xo.
I understand completely how you feel. I have been dealing with severe pain in my lower abdomen and right side of my lower back for a long time now. If I have a tiny bit of gas it will cause the pain. I had a colonoscopy done and my doctor said I had lots of adhesions throughout my intestines it was those that was causing the pain due to them stretching with gas or stool passing through. Lately I’ve had pain across my lower back and belly and it gets rather intense. I’m starting too doubt if adhesions is the total cause of my problem now. The past few days have been really rough. I have fibromyalgia, lupus, CTD, Raynaulds, etc. Does anyone else have issues with adhesions?
Thank you for asking this question. I’ve been wondering myself. Four years ago I started getting extreme stomach pain that would radiate to include my back. Once it started it wouldn’t ease up for 8 hours. During one particular session i projectiled vomited. Nothing would help it. I have SLE and discoid Lupus w/ kidney involvement, anemia, thyroid, raynaulds, IBS. I never thought to go to the drs because i get so tired of hearing myself explain my symptoms to him. I just dealt with it which i realize now was dangerous. I started to associate a few of my stomach pain session being related to a type of nut I was eating and certain other foods. I eliminated all those foods and haven’t had one since. After some research I’m starting to believe the Lupus patient system is extremely sensitive to preservatives, chemicals and toxins. I have malabsorption issues as well and have eliminated gluten and wheat within the last four months and feel much better. Just wanted to share my experience. I believe, one day, they will find a gut connection w/ Lupus.
