Just wondering how many here are still in the fight for your disability? And how long have you been fighting for it?
I applied in February 2013. Looks like me hearing will be somewhere between December 2014 and March 2015.
Fighting since February of 2013. But only fighting with lupus disability wasnt told I had lupus till june of 2013. Called disability mine is in august. Takes 18 months for a claim in alabama. My mom applied in march and its ok 180 days for her. She lives in Georgia. Both have lupus. She only has lupus I have neuropoply ra rayman disease. Depends on your state.
Ive been waiting for my appeal hearing since May 2013. We are trying to expidite it. No such luck yet.
Even my long term disability company has determined I am totally disabled and can't do any work.
I filed June 2013, they denied me. My FMLA through my jobs long term disability referred me to Allsup company appealed it for me and both of my Dr’s were in agreement with me not able to work and enforced my SSDI February 2014. My hands, knees & feet swells when I sit or stand for more than an hour I flare up & be in severe pain. I received my SSDI in April of this month. Warning: if your job had Cigna as their FMLA, when you get approved for your SSDI, they will take ALL of your back pay from you…
It took me three years from start to finish. It is all about the lawyer you get in my opinion I got the best "disability" lawyer in IL and won without even having a second hearing. The money I had to pay him from my settlement was worth it.
It does take some time, though.
Where did your mom go? Did she have a lawyer? I live in Ga too and I have lupus .pulmonary hypertension and seizures,I want to still work,I cannot apply for ssi and unemployment at the same time conflict of interest,I got layed off in March2014

I was clearly disabled and got my SSDI in 3 months after I had applied- passed right through
Applied for long term disability in May 2013, denied twice. Awaiting trial date which will be between now and June 2015. Have a disability lawyer. I am in NJ. Have been diagnosed with Lupus, Sjogrens, fibro, chronic depression and wells syndrome. Five chronic diseases but they say I can still work! Ack!
I am. I filed in Nov. 2012. Waiting on my hearing date now.
Filled in May 2012 n waiting for hearing on the 24th of this month (June).
Have been feeling worse since first diagnosed n have now 4 other diagnoses on top of Lupus.
Wish me luck!
Best wishes to all n hope u get your approval soon.
I filed in June 2012 in California right before we moved to Idaho. Things got mixed up briefly because I changed states on them but I was awarded disability in October of the same year. The trick to getting approved the first time through is to get copies of ALL doctor notes, chart records, lab work, visits to the ER, admissions to hospital, etc etc. and bring ALL of it with you to the interview at the Social Security office. Overwhelm them with evidence. Make sure that when you fill out the forms that tell them what your day is like, tell them what the WORST days are like, not the best days, because those bad days are the main reason you can't work. They just want to understand why you can't work.
I applied in Jan. 2012 now waiting on hearing date. I am in VA and it is one of the slowest states I was told, there is at least a year backlog.
Thanks for the tips.
Thank you all for your in put. I have been at this since Feb. 2011! At the time of filing I did not have the Lupus, Sjorgens, etc. dx only Fibro, Degenerative Disc Dis. with stenosis, tremors, already had 1 fusion. Now I have all the others, plus I need fusion at every level in cervical with postoperative changes. Ugh! I dont blame the surgeon, who was one of the best and operated on Pres. Reagan when he was shot. I blame my body, it just keeps failing me. We also moved to a different state right as I was going to my first hearing Oct.2012 and just received the approval from the ALJ to review it. So waiting again for a date for that!
Good advice thank you!
