I’ve been having chest pains on and off for about a week or so… Been in hospital and I had abnormal ECG but they diddnt do anything about it and said its not my heart even though my ECG was abnormal… No other tests on my heart… No clots on lungs or anything… It’s been when I do stuff like walking or if I run up the stairs and it happens when I experience strong emotion… It’s worrying me because it feels like you’d imagine heart pain to feel like and it goes up my neck and down my arm… Quick responses appreciated
See your doctor.
It’s the weekend now I can’t see a doctor till Monday and its Friday evening now here
Thanks… What could it be?? I’m scared
Ok thanks ill let you know what happens
You should have it checked out. I have had an abnormal EKG but they did all the other stuff- and it was fine which go’s along with lupus but you need to be sure.
Hi. I’m sorry you’re having these pains. I’m not sure if this will help, but when I have chest pains it usually means I’m experiencing pleurisy. I’ve had heart issues as well. But more often than not, I get inflammation in the lining of my lungs (at least that’s how it’s been explained to me) and it sometimes even hurts to breathe. It’s a frightening feeling. What has remedied this for me is intravenous prednisone. On less severe occasions oral prednisone did the trick. But, if your doctor is not available today, I would go to your nearest emergency room. I wouldn’t take any chances with chest pain, especially because it could be your heart. Have them rule out pericarditis as well. I hope this helps. Keep us posted. Good luck.
Demand answers. Chest pain is not normal. It could be any number of things... angina and pericarditis are the first two that jump into my head. Please go back to the ER and demand answers. Make sure they know it gets worse with activity and that it goes up your neck and down your arm.
I would definetly go to er just to be safe but this has happened to me many times and my EKG was normal and they do X-rays and it comes back saying pleurisy. When I have this the pain usually gets worse when laying down too. Like someone else posted IV steroids and pain medication will help alot. Go get checked though just incase. Good luck to you.
I have had chest pain before and it was diagnoses as pericarditis and pleuritic! Awful pain when intake a deep breath! Treated with predesone.
You may be having an anxiety attack. I had similar symptoms and went to the cardiologist and Thank God she said there were no problems with my heart. Maybe you should ask your doc about it. I hope you start feeling better soon. Please keep me updated.

I don’t see that you updated your post…I sincerely hope that you are receiving medical treatment as I’m writing this. Please let us know what happens. I hope that you are ok. Hugs!
It randomly went again so I havnt gone because they won’t find anything if its not hurting anymore… If I get it again ill go straight away so they can catch whatever is going on… Definitely not muscular otherwise it would be there all the time right??
Hey I was thinking it could be fibromyalgia because that can sometimes come and go I also have an abnormal ECG but my cardio tells me that my heart is fine other than having a mitral valve problem {which can also cause pain}. I have had anxiety attacks there were so bad I had chest pain and went to the ER and the doc there told me it was not a heart attack but I think if you ever have chest pain you should have it checked out.
Be Well

i cannot believe the place you went allowed you to leave the ER! if you should have heart attack or stroke they would be completely responsible!
My mother had chest pains..no previous hear problems. She was okay on ecg but stress test showed she was off...she had triple bypass week later...they would not let her leave after the stress test!
I will add this...after bypass she is doing great! she took 1 vicodin that was it, otherwise it was motrin for pain. Worse part was getting her to work her heart again...she was afraid to walk and get heart beating but she did!
So please see heart specialist or someone that will take you seriously! Go now!
If you do end up needing surgery...here is few ideas to keep you well while in hospital. Make sure they clean your room more than once day, including bathroom. If you see dust bunnies anywhere insist they clean it ASAP! 2nd, have them put on new gloves in your room in front of you. This is huge one! Do not feel bad if they say we just changed them outside your room...yea than they saw patient in room next to yours...say please change them here.
I wish you the best!
Cayleigh, I'm glad your pain has subsided, and am sorry for seeing this late. I can't be of much help other than to say welcome to the club.
My EKG, 12 and 15 lead, has been normal for 20 years of going through this. Only in the last year has it looked off. No one can tell me why. The chest pains I get last 30 to 40 minutes, doubled over in tears, nausea, jaw and arm pain too. Nothing helps! However, we did find two of the meds I have been on to help with high blood pressure make it worse!
My advice would be to have your medications looked at closely, to make sure nothing is interacting, or you are not like me, prone to unusual side effects. If you have any kind of tendency towards muscle spasms, it can happen with your heart as well. And yes, stress that builds up on me and is not worked through does make me more prone to having these episodes, even though they are not panic attacks.
So please do whatever you can to de-stress your life. Some tools include breathing exercises, meditation or centered prayer, walking in silence just to let your mind process, and any exercise your body can tolerate. For me that means stretching mostly. Other stress busters that help me? laughter, and listening to music, reading a good book, anything to help whisk me away from day to day stuff. Doing things that bring me joy, like working on creative projects.
I hope you never have to go through this again.
hugs,
Perplexed.
so i am not crazy! i have done this sooo many times and i get it is nothing, ok then y can i not do anything without it happening/? Why do the doctors not know this stuff it is not like lupus was just found out it has been around for a while.
This has happened to me 3x in the past 4 years and it lasted approx 1-2 weeks. I was diagnosed with pluerisy, the lining of my lungs became inflamed caused intense chest pain. I went to A&E and although my ECG was normal I was in agony.
They gave me a 35mg dose of steroids for 3 weeks that cleared this up.
Hope that helps xx
