Chest pain

Have been having chest pain for the past month or so. Since I have yet to be diagnosed with anything, I haven’t gone to the emergency room. And figure it’s not too serious. Waiting for my appointment in september with the pain managment doctor to hopefully get some answers. Today I felt like I was going to faint, puked all day and had chest pain! I can’t wait for some answers! I hope everyone is feeling as well as can be!

Hi tiffany,

Have you taken your blood pressure/Checked your heart rate? If you are feeling that bad i would suggest going to the ER. I know you probably dont want to, but vomiting and chest pain are a dangerous mix. it may just be inflammation but better safe then sorry. hope you feel better and some answers.

Ruth

Hello Tiffany,

You've had those chest pains for quite a while now and i'd say getting on for 2 & half months...please don't hold out to see your rheumo you should go to ER incase it's more because it could be pleurisy like i've mentioned lodging in your chest...even though you've not come across the right rheumo yet for diagnosis it does'nt mean to say you've not got it and going about these issues will help you more come september because attending the hospital it will be logged onto your medical files for the specialist to see and you can't afford not to be taken seriously.

Please becareful mate as i've had pleurisy several times and it does cause chest pain and not seen to can cause fluid on the lung then it becomes alot serious.

The group is correct! You need to be checked out right away. Please don’t play around with chest pain. There could be a few different reasons, but I don’t want to see you playing with your life.

I throw up a lot, but mine is from the inflamation in my body. Sometimes before I throw up I get pain on the left side of my chest. Once I purge the chest pain seems to go away. In my case the chest pain is from the pressure in the stomach. But please don’t mess around with this. Please take yourself to the ER.

Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Dearest Tiffany,

If you will not go to the ER, then please go to your Doctor. Allow them to determine the cause, there may be something that could help you tremendously. Please do not suffer or put yourself in unnecessary danger.

My heart is with you,

SK

If it is helpful, take a family member or good friend for support!

I agree with you Ann...about an immediate care center. And if they deem it is necessary to go to the ER...they will call ahead and make getting in much faster!

Chest pains can indicate several problems associated with our illness; however, it is nothing to ignore. As you can tell those here care about you and you need to take care of yourself. Living alone makes it harder so call a friend or family to help you get around...and make it happen today! "There is safety in the counsel of many!" And be sure to let us know. If it isn't anything serious...at least you'll be able to put your mind at ease.

Hello Tiffany,

How you feeling today?....and please update we as you do have concerned fellow member's who are worried about you dearly and i'm one of those.

Love you loads mate. xxx

Thank you everyone. I haven’t been feeling faint or puking the last couple days. I’m trying to get a quicker appointment with my new doc. And if I don’t hear anything soon I’ll go to the ER. I just figure since the pain has been here for so long, that it can’t be anything serious. Lol… I know…du mb. I just hate going to the doctor. Before I felt sick all the time, I would nevergo.

Hello Tiffany,

Lovely of you to let we know how you are and i'm pleased your trying to push your appointment forward and i'm so happy the puking and feeling faint as eased but if symptoms arise don't mess about mate just got and get help.

I know it's terrible keep going to the doctor's but no one can keep ignoring you and chest problems are serious issues, stay strong mate and i hope your weekends abit pleasanter for you.

All my love Terri xxxx

Please go to the er and get the chest pain checked out. I get pleurisy often and have been known to ignore it because I am so used to it. the last time I ended up with pnemonia and fluid around my heart. It's probably nothing serious, but it's better to know for sure. Good Luck!

Hi Lisa,

That's what my concern is because if it is pleurisy then it can become dangerous especially if it causes fluid on the lungs or by the heart and i'm so sorry to hear how you took ill also.

Dear Tiffany,

Glad to hear you say you are going to the Doc, hope you do!

Feel better real soon!

Tiffany,

It is very important to have chest pain checked out. It could be any number of things or a symptom of any number of things or it just could be nothing - but chest pain is not something to ignore. Now, if your dad came to you and said "Tiff, I'm having chest pain, but I'm just going to go out to the store now and then come home and mow the lawn and BBQ up some dinner, so don't worry about ME!" What would you say to him? How would you feel sweetie?

I know that you would be worried and you would get him to the Emergency Room - even if it just turned out to be gas, you would be relieved and grateful!!

Many of us with Lupus have chest pain. I have it and I've been checked out - I've had three surgeries as a result, it turned out that I have a rare heart condition caused by the Lupus and I have to see a special Heart Cardiologist - he is one of very few in the U.S. who can deal with my heart condition. I will end up with a pacemaker soon and at an early age too. Thank God they found out about it early enough though!

Yours may not be severe or rare, but it might be something that they have a simple pill for and it will be good to take any information - even if it is nothing to your Rheumy when you see him. Rheumy's do not deal with hearts - Cardiologists do. The Cardiologist will be at the ER where they will run an EKG - if the simple EKG doesn't look right, they will call a Cardiologist and he/she will run a stress test to get more info. They will take blood which will tell them more information also.

Please don't take any kind of chest pain lightly. The ER staff won't take it lightly at all! I know it is hard to go there - especially when you feel like everyone has been blowing you and all your symptoms off, but please go.

Love ya and hugs - Draginfli
